So it seemed obvious that I would be pretty hungry without consuming some animal life(if I managed to catch any)- and it was a pretty slim list of eatin out there . Later in the seaon it gets better- fruit such as apples, grapes, chokecherries and wild raspberries kick in. If you core the apples and slice them thin-peeled or unpeeled, and hang to dry near a heat source or in a dehydrator, they make great dried apple slices. To hang them to dry, just run a cord through the rings, or a needle and thread if not intact. We got permission to use the school cafeterias, so we had "canning class" and then a canning session. Basically, we're storing all the food we can at this point. Hard to believe it's already late September!

Well this stinks - Really, Im not laughing at you. 07:51 pm April 17th, 2007. I was down in South Texas over the weekend and saw a grand total of one turkey - a hen. But the weather was really nice and I borrowed Dad's camera and played photographer. Don't tell anyone, but I thought the flowers were pretty. Please, I could use some guidance here.
