July 20, 2012. Cusco and Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Inca Empire, has undoubtedly captured the imagination of the globe. Enough so, in fact, that when we arrived in Cuzco, we felt a bit of a shock to be well back on the beaten track. It was very different to hear English spoken on the streets, and to find numerous coffee shops with cappuccinos and sometimes even flat whites on the menus. And they were delicious.
