Thoughts on coding, information, and technology. More writing by Graham. June 15, 2015. June 15, 2015. This is just a brief post to let everyone know where I’m at. The last time I wrote was just before starting World of Webcraft last summer, so I’ll pick things up from there. In September, I received a call from Tim and Vince at The Pixel Shop. Where I had worked briefly a few months earlier. My contract ended a couple of weeks ago, so now I’m ready for something new. The possibilities at the i...You are...

Thoughts on coding, information, and technology. More writing by Graham. Learning to code through Codecademy: a great idea, but not quite perfected. June 18, 2012. June 18, 2012. The claim on their home page caught my attention:. Codecademy is the easiest way to learn how to code. It’s interactive, fun, and you can do it with your friends. Also popular in libraries. What I like about Codecademy:. It’s much less imposing than a heavy textbook. Each lesson is broken down into a series of very short exercis...

Laura the Librarian: Less than twenty four hours!
http://lauralearnsthelibrary.blogspot.com/2011/08/less-than-twenty-four-hours.html
Monday, August 29, 2011. Less than twenty four hours! Well, here I am, about to start library school tomorrow! Not much to say right now, other than that I've been unpacking and learning my way around Montreal (it's a big city so that should take some time). Fortunately I have a great librarian friend who is going to walk with me to campus tomorrow so I don't get lost, haha. She even works in the building where I'll be taking classes, so that's doubly convenient! Wish me luck as I get started!

A blend of Libraryland ideas, ideals and situations from Librarian Emily Chornomaz. March 19, 2010. Catching Up - Cuts to Libraries. Like I said yesterday, apologies for the extended absence. Have I lost all my followers? If not, how has everyone been holding up, especially with budget issues? The Board of Education is expecting an even bigger hit. In West Orange, the cuts mean a loss of $6 million in state aid, a nearly 64 percent cut. Let's hope for the best. Links to this post. Just noticed some bizar...

A blend of Libraryland ideas, ideals and situations from Librarian Emily Chornomaz. November 9, 2010. You many not have heard that Scholastic. Posts booktalks for a good deal of their YA/Teen books on their website. Awesome! The list of booktalks. Unfortunately is not all-inclusive. If you search for a particular book, like Lonely Hearts Club. By Elizabeth Eulberg, you can find additional booktalks. Not sure why they wouldn't add all of them to the big list, but if you look for 'em, you can find more.

A blend of Libraryland ideas, ideals and situations from Librarian Emily Chornomaz. January 27, 2009. So many ideas running through my head! Has begun and I've gotten the chance to attend all three of my classes at least once. Monday night was Instructional Techonologies. The class spent a lot of time in a fruitful and amoebic (spread out everywhere) discussion on the massive question of how technology is changing education. One link I will share thus far - Ayiti, the cost of life. Designed by Global Kids.
