Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Ok, this bear deposited his mark on our hiking trail. Boy had he been eating a bunch of berries. It had been there just a few hours. Quite certain it was a black bear. We shouldn’t have been so surprised since the trail we were hiking was originally called bear trail but the name was changed to Deer. No one used the trail with the old name. Saturday, August 23, 2008. Retiring the Top Map on the way to Bella Bella/Shearwater. We have been outside cell coverage and access to ice cream for about 3 days. I believe we will reach Shearwater Bella Bella today. We started the trip with a top and a bottom map of the passage—each about 8 foot tall. We retired the top map today.
