Grand Canyon National Park, Bright Angel Trail

http://grandcanyon.visionbib.com/BrightAngel.html

Bright Angel Trail in the Grand Canyon. Bright Angel, North Kaibab. Bright Angel Trail, Top. The North Kaibab Trail. Goes down Bright Angel Creek. Bright Angel Trial does not go down Bright Angel Creek. The trail starts at the west end of the village, across from the shuttle transfer stop for the Hermits Rest route. Rock Strata Boundary, Coconino and Shale. Any trip down into the canyon is a geology lesson. The 3 Mile Resthouse provides a place to stop and rest. Maintained by Keith Price.

Grand Canyon National Park, East Rim Drive

http://grandcanyon.visionbib.com/East.html

Desert View Drive, Grand Canyon National Park. Shorter is a relative distance term, it may not be easier, for the Phantom Ranch staff it is faster). Desert View (7438ft/2267M) is at the eastern end of the road accessible area of the park. The views include the Colorado River and the Colorado Plateau to the east or north. Much of the visible area to the east is the Navajo Nation. Moran Point. 7160ft/2182M. The next major viewpoint. Views to the West and across to Grandview Point. From the visitor center (...

Grand Canyon National Park, West Rim Drive

West Rim Drive, Grand Canyon National Park. From Grand Canyon Village, starting at the Bright Angel Trailhead. Hermits Rest. At the western end of the road accessible park, the views include the river and the desert to the east. Pima Point. At least I think it is Pima. Pima to Hermits Rest is a very nice walk along the rim (1.1mi/1.8km). Hopi Point. From Hopi back to the village is generally downhill, so it might be a good walking option on your return. 6860ft/2091M. The Shuttle starts here. It i...

Grand Canyon National Park, Phantom Ranch

http://grandcanyon.visionbib.com/Phantom.html

Morning on the Colorado River at Phantom Ranch. Shadows linger long after the official sunrise. Morning on Bright Angel Creek at Phantom Ranch. Coming down the (South) Kaibab. Trail you finally sense that you will make it with the view of the boat beach, the lower (Black) bridge and Bright Angel Creek. The campground is in the trees, the Phantom Ranch lodge is up stream a bit. Ribbon Falls is a short (or maybe medium) walk up the North Kaibab trail. Toward the North Rim. Also use the Black Bridge.

Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon Village

http://grandcanyon.visionbib.com/Village.html

Grand Canyon Village, Grand Canyon National Park. The village area is along the rim between Yaki Point and the Bright Angel Trail. Or between the trail down and the trail up. This is where the crowds are. You occasionally get views of the river, but do not get a true sense of how far down it really is (until you actually walk it). Glen Canyon Dam captures much of the red silt so that the river is usually green, but after heavy rains in eastern Arizona the river is visibly red. Thunderbird, Kachina, Brigh...

Sequoia vs Redwood

http://sequoia.visionbib.com/sequoia-redwood.html

Sequoia vs. Redwood. They are often confused in peoples minds, but not if you actually look at them. First they grow in different climates and regions (though they will both survive, if not reproduce, in many different climates. Indeed there is a parking lot in Napa, CA with one of each (actually 2 redwoods, 1 sequoia). National Parks, but others are scattered along the western slopes, mostly in relatively moist areas. Kings Canyon National Park, Sequoia National Park Visitation

http://sequoia.visionbib.com/Visit.html

Kings Canyon National Park, Sequoia National Park Visitation. Where to stay in Sequoia? Sequoia National Park has eliminated the old (and poorly heated in the winter) cabin and motel facility in Giant Forest and replaced it with a modern (and more expensive) facility located outside of the Sequoia grove north of Lodgepole at Wuksachi Village (what you see of a "Village" is Wusachi Lodge. Tioga Road, Tuolumne Meadows. Many trailheads start from the road, which saves hikers from the long climb up from the valley floor. Especially fall when facilities are closing and there is no overnight parking allowed on the road - once it snows the road is closed. Olmstead Point provides a different view of Half Dome.
