Kuala Lumpur - 21st-23rd March. Early morning of the 21st we arrived in the central station in KL. Both pretty tired so appreciative of the simple and time-saving transport on offer to get us to our hotel. We took the monorail which is also a great way to see the city as you move through it. Well, they are in a little police booth at the station, I guess…. Waiting for the monorail train. Arrival of the monorail train. Happy to be on the monorail train. Very posh hotel with small but well-furnished room.

Trang - 19th-20th March. By far the most arbitrary of holiday destinations. We picked to spend a night here just to break the travel from Koh Lanta to KL, or we would have been on busses and trains for over 24 hours. Trang wasn’t too bad, but not a sight-seeing town. The hotel was comfortable there were plenty of random restaurants along the streets and the ubiquitous American Seven Eleven if things got tight. Clearly they had made an effort with the front of the fridge painted. 14 April 2012 at 14:40.

Koh Lanta - 16th-19th March. Interesting variant of the tuk-tuk – the sidecar is bolted to a normal scooter. Downtown in the main town (Ban Saladan) of Koh Lanta. Heading out of town on the main street, stalls and shops congest the pavement. And most shops are multi-talented. This one hires scooters, sells petrol, is a tour agent and a restaurant. Phi Phi was our favourite! I saw this once on Crete with my cousin, but it was an horrific shock to Cath!
