Lady Patricia of Trakai: Happy Rasos, Kupolės and/or Joninės!
http://ladypatriciaoftrakai.blogspot.com/2009/06/happy-rasos-kupoles-andor-jonines.html
Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Wednesday, June 24, 2009. Happy Rasos, Kupolės and/or Joninės! Happy St. John's Day. Or maybe I should call it by one of its other, more Lithuanian Pagan names: Rasos, Kupolės, Joninės. So many names for a single day celebrated by so many cultures. Yes, the summer solstice actually occurred on June 21 this year, but June 24 is the traditional date of Midsummer Day. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

A Wandering Elf - Blog: My Journey
http://awanderingelf.weebly.com/blog-my-journey.html
Resources: Sheep and Wool. Resources: Costume and Textiles. I have wonderful friends who gifted me with a copy of Bundled Up in Blue last fall. It is a great museum exhibit book that covers many details of a Viking grave find in Iceland. I was very happy last night to see the dress information now available online. You can find it here! I FINALLY pulled a usable stringer! Two more decent small beads and a larger one with dots that I actually got evenly spaced and then drug out to a point. A recent articl...

Lady Patricia of Trakai: Cap of St. Birgitta
http://ladypatriciaoftrakai.blogspot.com/2014/09/cap-of-st-birgitta.html
Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Friday, September 5, 2014. Cap of St. Birgitta. As I said in my previous post, last month I took a Pennsic University. Class on how to make a St. Birgitta's cap. Lady Sarai Tindall taught the class. I don't think she has a website of her own, but the method she taught was very similar to the one in this tutorial. First, here's how my cap looked toward the end of the two-hour Pennsic class:. I finish...

Lady Patricia of Trakai: Garb Thoughts for a Midsummer Day
http://ladypatriciaoftrakai.blogspot.com/2012/06/garb-thoughts-for-midsummer-day.html
Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Friday, July 6, 2012. Garb Thoughts for a Midsummer Day. Author's note: I started writing this on Sunday, June 24, but didn't get around to finishing it. With the big storm and power outages that canceled the June 30 SCA event in my barony, things got kind of crazy. So here is the article as I started to write it . if that makes any sense.). Today is Lithuania's Midsummer Day, also called. Scrolling...

Lady Patricia of Trakai: August 2014
http://ladypatriciaoftrakai.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html
Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Saturday, August 16, 2014. OK, it's been a long while now. While the hunt for full-time employment continues, I try to keep up with my SCA life as well as I can with my limited means. I haven't been doing much Lithuanian research lately, but I have been attending events when I can and trying to make myself useful to the Barony of Storvik. I was wearing clothing that looked vaguely Middle Eastern and...

Lady Patricia of Trakai: Happy 25th Anniversary, Lithuania!
http://ladypatriciaoftrakai.blogspot.com/2015/03/happy-25th-anniversary-lithuania.html
Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Happy 25th Anniversary, Lithuania! I often tell people that Lithuania is "the little country with two Independence Days." Well, there's a good reason for that. Twenty-five years ago today, Lithuania became the first of the so-called Soviet Socialist Republics to declare itself free. In May 2011, as I noted on this blog. I got a chance to meet Dr. Landsbergis in person ...

Research means hitting wrong notes. August 28, 2016. In February, I collected some information on Anglo-Saxon seat cushions. I wish Id left myself a breadcrumb about where that document I made is, because it doesnt seem to be on my hard drive or in my Google Drive. I was thinking back then of weaving the fabric for the cushion, but in the run-up to Pennsic I found a pretty diamond-weave upholstery fabric remnant:. And I made a seat cushion cover out of it:. Folding stool with cushion. August 23, 2016.

Lady Patricia of Trakai: February 2013

Lady Patricia of Trakai. Adventures of a Lithuanian persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). Saturday, February 16, 2013. Long time no post (AGAIN). Wow yeah . it HAS been a long time. Now, I certainly haven't abandoned the SCA. I've been to a number of events and have continued to serve my Barony as a herald. But I've been focusing, by necessity, on trying to find gainful employment. Still, I was happy to see that Wikipedia featured the article on the history of Lithuania from 1219 to 1295.
