Why a new hall? The old hall was dilapidated and was not fit for continued use, particularly as it was used regularly by the local primary school. The turning point came with a succesful application to the Big Lottery for £345,000 which with funds raised from the sale of the old hall and grants from other sources gave us a total budget of £450,000. We could not have undertaken the build without financial backing and support from many quarters and the main ones are identified below. Use of the village hall.

Surprisingly, in quite a small village, we have a castle that was one of the largest of it’s type in Norfolk. It is now largely in ruins and is used as a nature reserve. On the third Friday of every month, a coffee morning is held in the Village Hall from 10.30am until noon. The event is organised by a group of volunteers, who serve freshly brewed coffee (or tea, if you prefer) as well as serving truly excellent home baked cakes and scones. Everyone from Mileham and the surrounding villages is welcome, so come along and join us for a chat. We ask for a small donation of 2 to cover the costs -. Any monies left over are put towards the upkeep of the Village Hall.
