rock out to the apparatus
Humdrum Photography
I’m not up on my anthozoans – is this a giant green anemone. Or is it just an anemone that happens to be green? I photographed this green sea anemone at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. In accordance with their photography policy. I’m not sure what species/cultivar of waterlily this is; Nymphaea. Something-or-other, probably. Googling for other people with pictures of pink water lilies, it seems the consensus is N. odorata. 8211; but there are so many Nymphaea. I’ve never been a fan of curly-leaf parsley...
Dandelion Mead
http://greengabbro.net/2013/04/02/dandelion-mead
Rock out to the apparatus. I’m blogging about tonight’s mead-making because the #%@ *! Must won’t cool down fast enough for me to pitch the yeast and go to bed. Someday I will learn not to start brewing after 8pm but that day is not today. I’m following something like Jack Keller’s recipe #2. So I’m making a mead. 2 quarts dandelion petals, 3 lbs fireweed honey, zest and juice from 3 oranges 1 lemon. Smack pack of dry mead yeast nutrients. But after boiling for a bit it didn’t smell like that anymo...
Desert Parsley
http://greengabbro.net/2014/05/10/desert-parsley
Rock out to the apparatus. I went looking for morels last weekend and didn’t find any. But as a consolation prize, I learned a new plant:. 8211; barestem biscuitroot, barestem desert-parsley, Indian consumption plant, pestle parsnip, wild celery. I have never actually heard any of these common names in common use; I think I’m gonna call it desert parsley to match the way I’m starting to think of this plant in the kitchen. The Difference Between Shit and the Internet
http://greengabbro.net/2003/07/09/the-difference-between-shit-and-the-internet
Rock out to the apparatus. The Difference Between Shit and the Internet. This was on metafilter, so you’ve probably all seen it already: The Internet Is Shit. You may not have seen plasticbag.org defending Fair Internet’s honor. It seems that other people have also spent a great deal of effort crafting arguments on the relative beings of shit and the Internet, but such efforts are unwarranted. The Internet is clearly not shit, as this simple comparison table shows. Matte brown in most cases. I can’...
Osoberry Piquette
http://greengabbro.net/2014/06/08/osoberry-piquette
Rock out to the apparatus. Piquette, or pomace wine, is an inferior hooch formed from the skins and other solids left over after pressing grapes for wine. My osoberry pomace was the leftovers after making jam, not wine, but I bet it’ll still make a nice inferior hooch! If not, well, I’m not out much. Yarrow Pale Ale II. On 07 Jul 2015 at 12:06 pm. 8230;] Osoberry piquette: Also bottled April 12. Really good! Published nor shared. Required fields are marked *. Notify me of follow-up comments by email.
Green Gabbro

Rock out to the apparatus. Belated Brew Log: Massive Cider Edition. This fall I got my mitts on a friend’s parents’ little cider press. It’s a one-bushel hand crank jobber with a wonky spout, but it gets the job done. The most tedious part was feeding the apples piece by piece into the food mill on my KitchenAid. I have a line on a larger grinder to borrow for next year. Seven gallons made it into cider, as follows. Continue Reading ». Para; Posted 05 December 2015. Dagger; Comments (1). Reading the cont...

Tuesday, 22 January 2008. I found the centenary WoGE at. S site so now it's my turn. One great aspect of WoGE is that while searching for locations, sometimes I'll see something I've never seen before and I'll stop right there and go and find out what it is. This is one of those locations and at an oblique view to give a better sense of relief. To make it ever so slightly more challenging the east side has been clipped. Please post the latitude and longitude and a comment on the geology. T rex eats fish.

You're right and is apt that you should host the next one! The caldera is early Tertiary approx 60Ma and is associated which the formation of the NE Atlantic and a split between Europe and Greenland. 18 January 2008 at 17:03. Magma Cum Laude: The volcano Gatekeeper
http://magmacumlaude.blogspot.com/2010/11/volcano-gatekeeper.html
Donate to the Santiaguito Volcano Observatory. Saturday, November 6, 2010. One of the sad - but not unexpected - stories to come from the eruption at Mount Merapi. Concerns the death of the "Gatekeeper" of the volcano. Mbah Marijan. Marijan was mentioned in a 2008 National Geographic article, "The Gods Must Be Restless". That I blogged about. A long time ago - and that has turned out to be depressingly prophetic. Want to read the rest of this post. Go to Magma Cum Laude's new home. At the AGU Blogosphere.

Green Gabbles | A look at green politics from Bracknell and East Berkshire
A look at green politics from Bracknell and East Berkshire. David Cameron’s speech at Tory Party conference as a word cloud:. Trying hard to find the words environment or green in there. But it’s late and my eyes are heavy. I wonder if you could help? This is probably the best video concerning Bracknell on YouTube and will certainly raise a smile on anyone who lives or has visited the town. The town of shame. What were they thinking? People being blown up. Ed Miliband’s favourite tweet. Anyway, thereR...

Rock out to the apparatus. Belated Brew Log (Again). It’s been less than a year since I posted, that counts as victory, right? From a Buy Nothing neighbor who wanted them off her tree pretty early. OG: 1054 (@ 73ºF), pH 3.2. It’s quite sour, but fruity and good. It would probably be better with a bit of backsweetening, but I am too lazy to fuss with that. Six more gallons of cider in the basement. Maybe I’ll log them here as I bottle them. Para; Posted 25 September 2016. Dagger; Comments (1). A gall form...
