Little updates from my travels for my family, friends, and a couple of very small and wonderful island schools. Sunday, March 04, 2007. Just a few hours left. Once you've seen one amazingly beautiful, enchantingly magical New Zealand beech forest, you've seen them all. Oregon sometime next week, I think. That kind of approach has worked here in New Zealand, we'll see if it works back home. Then when we got there, they built it up even more! And then, the boat ride out to the starting point. We had a ...

Little updates from my travels for my family, friends, and a couple of very small and wonderful island schools. Saturday, January 20, 2007. Right at home in Upper Hutt. Off the next evening at their backpacker hostel in Wellington, where they'd stay just one night before heading to the South Island, and I headed up to see what this farm where I'd be housesitting. Rae and Mike and their three daughters, Georgia (15), Olivia (11), and Sophia (9) have a great home! It is a busy place! The other two wwoofers.

Little updates from my travels for my family, friends, and a couple of very small and wonderful island schools. Saturday, January 13, 2007. Bubbling mud, lots of bubbling mud. Speaking of bizarre, one of the other main attractions is zorbing. Links to this post. I am way behind in my blogging. Armed with a delicious avocado and a bag of Australian tortilla chips, I shall see if I can catch up. In the morning, Tomer woke both me and Maa'yan, saying, "You've got to see the sunrise! That afternoon we decide...

Little updates from my travels for my family, friends, and a couple of very small and wonderful island schools. Friday, February 16, 2007. Land of the Backpacker. My Mom recently asked me if I'd take some pictures of the some of the usual, everyday things I encounter in New Zealand, so she could see what daily life for me is like here in New Zealand. So, here is my response to that! Although, not quite as nice as Concord Trailways- no bad movies. Well, I am sure that I will be sharing many more stories a...

Little updates from my travels for my family, friends, and a couple of very small and wonderful island schools. Thursday, February 01, 2007. Nice weather for JANUARY! The weather was gorgeous- it rained some at night, but for the hike I had crystal clear days without a cloud in the sky. Ahh. summer. They take your camping gear from one campsite to the next. Quite a luxury! It felt weird for about 5 seconds, then I just enjoyed it. Hiking with just a day pack is much nicer! Oh, and we also saw dolphins!

Little updates from my travels for my family, friends, and a couple of very small and wonderful island schools. Friday, November 10, 2006. 10 days and counting. Ten days from now I will leave Maine for my four month adventure - traveling in the US, mostly to visit friends and family, and in New Zealand, to work on organic farms (in the WWOOFing program), to explore the National Parks, and to experience a very different landscape. I'm really looking forward to getting out to stretch my legs a bit!

Little updates from my travels for my family, friends, and a couple of very small and wonderful island schools. Friday, April 13, 2007. Back on the East Coast. That car got me to the Northwest where I got to visit friends of my Dad's on Bainbridge Island, Abby and David in Oregon, and my brother and his family in Washington. Three fabulous visits! I'll post pictures on my Shutterfly account. All of the books held my attention for hours and made the long days of driving rather painless. Links to this post.
