Gretchen Long Chapler, 79, BSN, CRNP died on January 19, 2012 from metastatic lung cancer at her home in The Sea Ranch, California with complete end of life hospice care provided by my Dad and me. With wonderful help from friends and neighbors we got Mom into a wheelchair, up the outside steps, down the inside steps and into the bedroom. Phew… It was no easy task. Gretchen's Medical Updates. Updates on Mom's health. Mom got a hospital bed Friday and she is now upstairs in the living room with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Dad and I are getting more skilled at our duties. Mom likes it a lot better in the hospital bed. She’s watching some television, dictating emails to me. Gretchen Marie Hargis and Jason Scott Barr will be joined together in Holy Matrimony on Saturday, June 27 at 2:00 pm in a service conducted by John Rich, co-director of Patchwork Central and a minister of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). The ceremony will be at Patchwork Central, 100 Washington Ave, Evansville, IN 47713. A reception and potluck dinner will be held immediately following the service. I am so happy for you!
