Stories from the South

Stories from the South. Monday, September 29, 2008. Wow…really getting good at the whole blog-slacker thing! September has come and gone, what a relief in many ways. September was full of competitions with students; anniversaries, parties and travel, and it flew by but was exhausting! So I am looking forward to a calmer October, although I have doubts that it will be any different. Keep your fingers crossed; if we win we are going on a free trip to. So again fingers crossed, chance of free trip north!

Stories from the South: May 2008

http://www.gringaextraordinaire.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

Stories from the South. Monday, May 26, 2008. Winter in Parade Land. I experienced the first snow of the year in Coyhaique and it was amazing! All the volunteers were up in Coyhaique for the going away party of a volunteer from last year, Annie, who is amazing. After having some drinks with her in the local salsa joint we left to find the city blanketed in white…not just a little blanket but a down comforter blanket! It was amazing the amount of snow that fell in just a few hours! Of snow, which is almost.

Stories from the South: Puyuhuapi

http://www.gringaextraordinaire.blogspot.com/2008/05/puyuhuapi.html

Stories from the South. Sunday, May 4, 2008. Yea for national holidays! Chile celebrated Día del Trabajador on Thursday, which is the international labor day, apparently we like to be different and celebrate in September, it must be easier to stop wearing white then.Anyway, we didn’t have to teach as everything was shut down, so what better to do than to take Friday off as well and travel to a nearby national park! However, the project continues as cutting road through jungle in the. Friday we tried our ...

Dazed and Confucius: October has come and gone and oh the adventures ......

http://meredithseoul.blogspot.com/2008/11/october-has-come-and-gone-and-oh.html

Saturday, November 15, 2008. October has come and gone and oh the adventures . Our last great adventure was just recently, during the first weekend of November when Phil, Andy (a co-worker and good friend), Mike (Andy’s brother visiting from the states) and myself completed a temple stay at the Buddhist temple of Golgulsa near the city of Gyeongju. It was a bit of a challenge to get to the temple, but the four and half hour train ride,. They have a lot more freedom than monks of the catholic faith, being...

Tuesday, August 19, 2008. The moment you have all been waiting for… the first edition of Meredith’s blog. After what equated to two days of traveling we are now safe and sound in Suwon, South Korea. It is definitely an eye opening experience. Upon arriving we found not many people speak English and everything is written in Han Gal which is geometrical shapes. Luckily everyone at work has been living here for at least a year and they have been very helpful with ordering food and getting around. There are ...

Dazed and Confucius: Long Time No See

http://meredithseoul.blogspot.com/2009/02/long-time-no-see.html

Sunday, February 8, 2009. Long Time No See. And watching Harry Potter falling asleep about 30 minutes into it. We ate at a Thai restaurant for our Christmas Day feast and Phil bought me some converse shoes for my Christmas present. It just didn't feel much like Christmas even with decorations up at the stores. I did not see one Santa Claus. This ends the wrap up of our lives for the last three months. We hit the sixth month mark tomorrow ( Saturday, February 7th). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://meredithseoul.blogspot.com/2008/09/time-flies-when-you-are-15-hours-ahead.html

Monday, September 1, 2008. Time flies when you are 15 hours ahead. I can’t believe I have been in South Korea for almost a month now. Fall is upon us and it is suppose to be very pretty here. Today it rained all day. I have gotten into the habit of wearing skirts and sandals on rainy days here other wise my running shoes and pants are soaked by the time I reach the street corner. I was led to believe that Korean children are well behaved, this is not the case for most however! View my complete profile.
