The Ironic Cherry...: January 2015
http://theironiccherry.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. I hate to say it, but while the poor continue to be underpaid, underfed and uninsured, the pressing problem in our state this year seems to be our terrible awful roads. In fact, the problem is so bad that even businesses are pushing for a tax that would pay to solve the problem. The problem is so bad that even republicans. Are working toward fixing this mess. Because why would we ever. Want South Carolina to take a step forward without taking a couple steps back? You can also ...

The Ironic Cherry...: July 2015

Tuesday, July 14, 2015. When Nikki Became a Hero. Once again today I heard a news commentator refer to Nikki Haley's heroic stance on taking down the Confederate battle flag. It has me worried. You know, they say even a broken clock is right twice a day. That makes it one more time than our governor has been on the right side of a debate. She has opposed a gas tax during a time of lower gas prices while our roads and bridges crumble, missing a jobs opportunity that would also bring much needed infrastruc...

Wednesday, September 24, 2014. A Well Regulated Summer Being Necessary to . 2014. I started taking these pictures around our fairly officious city in June and it's grown to quite a collection with summer just ending two days ago. I expect I will be adding snarky comments on each picture. Where to start? That may take all fall. Who's up for a $25 barbecue? No one, the barbecue grill in the public park is chained under lock and key. If a dog is not leashed, who gets fined $50, the dog? That is not my dog.

Tuesday, January 27, 2015. The Great Unhistoric Blizzard of 2015. For the storm was up 12 hours before the snow started and the forecasters were touting it as a historic 30-incher. The New Yorkers, who only got 10 or 11 inches, are now calling it the Snor'easter. Here in Massachusetts, the snow came in light and fluffy which was much better than the prediction of heavy wet snow that would bring down trees and power lines, but we did get the inches forecast. Scene from the window Tuesday morning. The aero...

Monday, December 29, 2014. Back in the day when libraries were funded because books. Except that over the years our library has cut back on their purchases. Especially for books that are not best-sellers. You can always find copies of Bill O'Reilley's latest tome, but some books disappear before we ever see them. Painful, awful decisions about what books not to order, and of what books to order only one copy. People who are interested in abortion rights won't know it exists. Imagine this happening on way...

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. A Gallery of Obsolescence. Self-portrait of this blogger as reflected in an old pay phone. Hole punch system for train tickets. I wish I had video of the conductor. Instead I've got a picture of my finger. These days, the train trestle at the BU Bridge carries more graffiti than trains. What passes for agriculture in these parts. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Cambridge Street Scenes May 2015. I'm not sure this note will work but admire the effort. It's got a ready answer for the hearing officer trying to say, "A broken meter just proves you didn't pay.". This effort seems a little lazy. You want the. Traffic enforcement officer to be able to read your whole note before lifting the wiper to insert the ticket. You don't want to admit you didn't pay. Brazilian barbecue skewers in the window at the Midwest Grill. Make way for goslings. So we...
