Grown In Frederick: April 2010

http://growninfrederick.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Friday, April 30, 2010. Farmer's Market starts Saturday! I am really excited that the West Frederick Farmer's Market is starting Saturday! I didn't get enough asparagus out of my plant this year to make it worth harvesting, and the market always has the freshest bunches. The market this year is in the same place as last year- behind the Physician's building next to Holiday Cinemas on Baughman's Lane. It goes 10-1 every Saturday until Thanksgiving. Links to this post. Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Good News About Food! As far as I'm concerned, food is always good news. But on to the particulars, the New York Times has a great opinion piece by Mark Bittman entitled: Food: Six Things to Feel Good About. Not surprisingly, several of these things have to do with the rising local foods movement and the increasing awareness of people about the quality and sources of their food. Some highlights:. Walmart plans to re-regionalize its food distribution network. Urban agriculture i...

Grown In Frederick: September 2010

http://growninfrederick.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 9, 2010. Derelict in my duties. Hey friends of local food! Sorry I've been AWOL for a month. I've been doing a lot of cool stuff but haven't been writing about it. Honestly, I have been pretty tired, being almost five months pregnant with twin boys! Yesterday, Chef Christine from the Kitchen Studio. Gave an AWESOME demo at the North Market Farmers Market. And made both panzanella. Right now, I am obsessed with tomatoes and honeycrisp apples and watermelon. Corn is coming to an end, bu...

Grown In Frederick: Local Chef for Hire

http://growninfrederick.blogspot.com/2011/03/local-chef-for-hire.html

Friday, March 18, 2011. Local Chef for Hire. I gave birth to twins three months ago. So exciting! And as predicted, my boyfriend and I had no time to do any of the things we used to do. Which, for the most part is no big sacrifice. However, we always ate really well before, and one night I found myself grumpily eating a can of beans and thinking something had to change. Food, cooking, and a touch of decadence. Update on The Q Company. Remember that post about the local couple on the reality cooking show. The Q Company of Harpers Ferry won last night’s episode of 24 Hour Restaurant Battle. Here’s hoping this means we’ll get a new BBQ restaurant around here sometime soon! An Ode to Freezers | Lots of Everything

https://lotsofeverything.wordpress.com/2010/04/28/an-ode-to-freezers

Food, cooking, and a touch of decadence. An Ode to Freezers. This whole no-shopping thing has me thinking a lot about my freezer. This led me to this column in today’s Frederick News-Post, in which I confess that I secretly don’t want to eat all the food in my freezers. I have oversharing issues these days. Food, cooking, and a touch of decadence. Korean BBQ Food Truck…In Frederick! Hello, fellow GFers! | The Frederick Vegetarian

https://frederickvegetarian.wordpress.com/2009/10/18/hello-fellow-gfers

What's all this, then? Hello, fellow GFers! I got a couple of comments on the Gluten Free reveal, so hello to you! But best of all was Shannon. Pointing out that Moxie (new bakery on N. Market that I was feeling bitter about not being able to sample) sometimes has GF goodies. I also hear tell that La Dolce Vita over on Carroll Creek does, too, and even sometimes has GF buns for their sandwiches. Woo! This weekend, I was near Berkeley Springs, WV with some friends and we went to Panorama at the Peak.

a new purpose… | The Frederick Vegetarian

https://frederickvegetarian.wordpress.com/2009/10/08/a-new-purpose

What's all this, then? A new purpose…. 8221; it’s better to eat a pesticide-ridden conventionally grown peach than to eat organic bunny crackers. good to remember. That said, I miss some of my convenience foods. Pizza, for one. Tonight we had home-made pizzas on Kinnikkinnick. Personal pizza crusts. The family’s primary gluten-free bread-winner is out of town, so the 4-to-a-package size was perfect. They were good! Even the kids liked them. The company makes GF donuts, too, so I kind of love them. OH I a...
