Thursday, July 23, 2015. 5 Must-Haves for an Afternoon at the Park. For those of us lucky enough to live in Miami, aka paradise, you don't need the beach for a tropical getaway. Personally, I'm not even a huge fan of the beach. What? Three solid reasons: 1) the beach is crowded, 2) the parking situation is a mess and 3) the aftermath of sand in my car is nightmarish. For those same reasons, I'd much prefer a relaxing, easy afternoon at the park. My go-to is Kennedy Park in Coconut Grove. 2 A good book.

It blows my mind how she did it - how she made sure I grew up to be a strong, independent woman. Today I want to celebrate her. 23 years ago, my then 19-year-old mom was at South Miami Hospital holding a newborn baby. You guys, she was 19. She. But she was and is incredible. Mom, happy birthday to you. You are my rock. Love you, ma. This one's for you, ma.
