Optimizing FFTW for NEON-Enabled ARM Devices

Optimizing FFTW for NEON-Enabled ARM Devices. Friday, August 12, 2011. Update on FFTW-NEON Availability and Support. It appears that a company called Vesperix. Is now offering commercial support for FFTW on ARM. Presumably based on my work. I've also been informed some time ago that the Beagleboard project. Has integrated FFTW-NEON into the Ångström distribution. For me. Thanks Koen! Thursday, August 19, 2010. Optimizing FFTW for NEON-Enabled ARM Devices: FFTW: Weekly Report - Week 11, 12, and 13

http://gsoc2010-fftw-neon.blogspot.com/2010/08/fftw-weekly-report-week-11-12-and-13.html

Optimizing FFTW for NEON-Enabled ARM Devices. Monday, August 16, 2010. FFTW: Weekly Report - Week 11, 12, and 13. After much anticipation, here are my very-belated weekly updates, along with another few lovely graphs. And its still pretty decent! When I set out to improve FFTW. Enabled ARM processors, the main goal and focus was to be on the TI OMAP 3430. For the BeagleBoard Project. The Cortex-A9 does have an out-of-order unit, but its unlikely that this will have a major impact on NEON scheduling.

Optimizing FFTW for NEON-Enabled ARM Devices: Meanwhile

http://gsoc2010-fftw-neon.blogspot.com/2010/08/meanwhile.html

Optimizing FFTW for NEON-Enabled ARM Devices. Monday, August 9, 2010. I'm waiting for another benchmark to finish to publish my (rather lengthy) weekly update. It should be done within the next hour. Meanwhile, here's a small sample of many more graphs to come. Found the bug. oddly enough it was not due to misalignment. libavcodec/fft.c:75 in ff init ff cos tabs(). I rebuilt ffmpeg it with hardcoded tables. One question: what is the reason for the peak on these graphics? Delay due to more memory accesses?

Alternatively, clone my git repository. You can find build instructions here. As I already mentioned, these benchmarks do not contain the neon-simd optimized strided memory transfers that I started rather late in the game, but you can probably imagine, that for any composite transform (i.e. if N! Once my thesis is submitted ;-). 1D trans...

High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard: June 2010

http://beagleboard-pwm.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard. Monday, June 28, 2010. Report for the week. A couple of major things got done. The driver now allows simultaneous access of all the PWMs (9/10/11). This is done by making multiple instances of the same driver and using a load time module parameter to specify which PWM signals have to be activated. Made the lightning talk. It can be accessed at http:/ www.youtube.com/watch? Added more instructions for using the driver. Monday, June 21, 2010. Previously th...

High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard: Week 12 report

http://beagleboard-pwm.blogspot.com/2010/08/week-12-report.html

High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard. Monday, August 16, 2010. Report for the week. I was busy this week with some urgent college work, so could not put in as much time. Improved the documentation on the elinux wiki page. Made a patch and submitted it to the linux-omap mailing list for review. I sent in the patch this morning so am still waiting for some opinions about it. I am hoping I have got the basics right. I will try and put some more time into testing the pwm speaker driver.

http://beagleboard-pwm.blogspot.com/2010/08/week-11-report.html

High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard. Monday, August 9, 2010. Report for the week. I misunderstood the ioctl() interface thinking that I could issue these calls from the kernel space as well. But later discovered that these can only be used from the userspace. This was causing the compile errors I mentioned in the last week's report. With this out of the way I can now build the pwm speaker driver. Improve the documentation on the wiki as well as the repo. High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard. Monday, May 31, 2010. Report for the week (24-5-10 to 31-5-10). Downloaded the Angstrom demo image and logged into the uboot shell. Partitioned SD card and setup angstrom image on it. Booted Angstrom demo image on the Beagleboard. Made the final draft for circuits to be used for motor control and speaker control. Got the blog upto speed. Control Beagleboard through VNC. Study other such drivers and start working on the architecture. But all was not well!

High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard. Monday, August 2, 2010. Report for the week. I am having some compiling problems right now using this makefile ( http:/ pastebin.com/EnFjfNZa. And, these files pwmsp.c( http:/ pastebin.com/0XS7sNxA. And pwmsp lib.c ( http:/ pastebin.com/JRFfcMcU. It gives me these errors http:/ pastebin.com/Byhkz4rT. After fixing these compiling errors, I will test this driver and make a demo for this. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). AXI interfacing with Chisel.

High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard: July 2010

http://beagleboard-pwm.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

High level interface for PWM with the BeagleBoard. Monday, July 26, 2010. Report for the week. Much of this week was spent trying to read up on ALSA. But the documentation is not that good. Added prescaling via another ioctl() call. This will now allow us to obtain really slow PWM signals. Prescaling allows division of the input clock by powers of 2 i.e. from 2 to 256. This seems like a very neat feature. Monday, July 19, 2010. Report for the week. Added more ioctl() calls to query the status of the PWM.

GSoC 2007 KDEPrint - openprinting.org driver query

GSoC 2007 KDEPrint - openprinting.org driver query. Saturday, April 3, 2010. This blog and the GSoC project finished a long time ago. To conclude with 2010 hindsight. The project was completed and a featureful wizard was the result. A python printer setup program created for Ubuntu won out over my wizard as it was a superset of the features. It was a complete printer management tool. So, what I learned is: streamed XML parsing, GUI vs. business logic separation, Qt. Monday, August 20, 2007. Today I finis...
