Jim's Drawing Board: Friday Paintover!

http://jimsdrawingboard.blogspot.com/2014/03/friday-paintover.html

Concepts, Designs, and Illustrations of Jim Moore. Friday, March 21, 2014. One of my Academy students, Emre Ekmekci. Recently turned in a prop assignment for critique, and it thought it would be good opportunity to talk about some lighting concepts. As you can see Emre has a solid start but we could probably tighten up the lighting a bit help with his render and also the overall feel of the piece and push it even further with some simple tricks. As a final step, I went through and adjusted some drawing i...

Jim's Drawing Board: Paintover #3 : Lorenzo Tosi

http://jimsdrawingboard.blogspot.com/2014/11/paintover-3-lorenzo-tosi.html

Concepts, Designs, and Illustrations of Jim Moore. Monday, November 24, 2014. Paintover #3 : Lorenzo Tosi. For week we'll be looking at some studies by Lorenzo Tosi. As we can see, Lorenzo has a good feel for light and space in many of these. Notice how the most successful studies have clearly defined spacial groups defined ( fore ground, middle ground and background ) as well as a clear sense of light. Finally, a way to make a static scene more dynamic is to tilt the camera a bit ( in English this somet...

Melissa King's Sketch Blog: August 2012

http://melissakingsketch.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 23, 2012. Versus Gallery Show Piece. So in a couple weekends I will be attending the PAX convention up in Seattle. And, on Saturday night, I will be participating in the Fangamer VERSUS Attract Mode gallery show! This is the piece I will be showing. It's from the game Earthbound, and it depicts the moment when Ness leaves home with his (soon to be) rival Pokey to embark on his journey. I chose to do it in pixel art to call back to the original style of the game. Thursday, August 16, 2012.

BEST SEEN IF YOU CLICK ON IMAGE. Wilson is said to have used a four foot brush to be able to see what he was doing from the viewer's point of view. In Rungius's background there wasn't much of a tie-in line, most of it is hidden, probably to avoid this problem. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Wendy Wagner Campbell: Oops, I did it again!

http://wendywagnercampbell.blogspot.com/2015/07/oops-i-did-it-again_27.html

Musings on painting, drawing and other stuff. Monday, July 27, 2015. Oops, I did it again! I invalidated myself. Why do I do that. I always try to be positive but also realistic with the work that I do and the knowledge that I have. Most of my undergrad learning and therefore focus was on modern art movements. I just didn't have an awareness that this realist art world was gaining strength since my graduation and subsequent abandonment of painting. I have a lot to learn and will never stop learning.
