Our life with Rosie. Don’t panic. It’s not blood. This morning, I was busy making banana bars (whole wheat banana bread in mini cupcake papers) for her to eat, so wasn’t paying a lot of attention to her. Cat in the Hat or something was on PBS Kids, so she was happy enough. Then, I realized that it was TOO quiet. Play at Kristan’s. Another Spanish play group! This time, at Kristan’s house. Rosie LOVES being outside, especially in this wonderful weather! It’s actually fall (for Texas) here! Rosie loves to ...

Our life with Rosie. Dead Trees – or why we love our neighbors. Do you see it? It’s funny what you think of in these situations. My first thought was of my curtains. We had just that morning put them up. They look great and now they were going to be smashed? And then, too, could we try to aim the tree to fall on the kitchen? I mean, if part of the house is going to be smashed, it may as well include the part that I really don’t like and want re-done anyways. So, all’s well that ends well. We ar...So, Sat...

Our life with Rosie. Super Sticky Post It Notes. So, have you tried the new Super Sticky Post It Notes? They are really great! I love them for writing directions down on and then sticking them to the dash of my car. Unlike the old ones, these stay stuck on the dash. Wonderful. After a bit of experimentation, Rosie has determined that they also stick quite well to noses. Now you know. Jessica did well I think, I know that she placed at least a couple of times in different events! Beginning of the end.

Our life with Rosie. Yesterday, Russ, Rosie and I went to watch Rosie’s cousin, Jessica, compete in a horse riding event. Let’s just say that I know little about horses or riding, though I have ridden a fair bit both as a kid and as a Peace Corps Volunteer. Jessica did well I think, I know that she placed at least a couple of times in different events! And, I know that this requires lots of hard work both from her and her mom. So Jess, just know, we’re proud of you! Beginning of the end. Beginning of the...

Our life with Rosie. Rosie loves to wear hats. Has for at least a year now. And, she likes to wear them out, to stores like HEB and Tractor Supply. Rosie and I were out picking up a part for Russ for one of our many project, and so went in to Tractor Supply. People were smiling at us and trying so hard not to laugh – but we were funny looking! Luckily, I had my camera with me and another customer took this picture. Notice the matching purses? And the sunglasses on upside down? I never thought that I was ...

Our life with Rosie. Beginning of the end. So, I turned 39 in October. It is the beginning of the end. The end of the 30’s! How ever did that happen? Edie met us at Russ’ grandparents house at Canyon Lake (north a bit of San Antonio) and took care of Rosie for the morning. (Talk about a great gift – time without baby! Then, Russ and I joined about 25 other Texas Master Naturalists on a 3 hour hike down the canyon formed after a huge flood in the past 10 years. It was really pretty! Nov 22, 2010. Fill in ...

Our life with Rosie. Clever marketing on the stores end had placed mylar helium balloons of Elmo at the end of our lane… and she loves Elmo. So, to assuage the guilt, $3 later we had a bright red Elmo face in our car. She loves balloons like this and spent the next morning chasing the cat around the house with it. As you can tell, we have a couple of other Elmo items. The stuffed version came from a yard sale for a quarter and the shirt came from Grandma Skalsky. I fear an Elmo birthday too.
