H&ST In De Pers. Dunnelaag processen zoals PVD- en CVD-processen worden in een brede temperatuurreeks uitgevoerd. Vanaf ca 80°C (PVD) tot ca 1000°C (CVD) worden lagen op het materiaal gebracht die de oppervlakte gesteldheid beïnvloeden. De laagdikte varieert van enkele nanometers tot enkele micrometers. Slijtvaste lagen, een verbetering van de corrosiebestendigheid of speciale eigenschappen kunnen aan het werkstuk worden toegevoegd.

H&ST In De Pers. Het Technology Team is erin geslaagd om het oppervlakte van austenitisch roestvast staal te harden. Normaal is dit niet mogelijk bij dit type RVS. Door middel van een diffusieproces wordt een harde en slijtvaste laag in het materiaal gebracht, zonder dat daarbij de corrosiebestendigheid afneemt.
