Savor South: February 2012
http://savorsouth.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
The Blog of Southern Food. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Recently, I bought a 1961 paperback copy of an Italian cookbook (for only 75¢! Inside I found this quote from Joseph Conrad, author of "Heart of Darkness" and "Lord Jim":. The intention of every other piece of prose may be discussed and even mistrusted, but the purpose of a cookery book is one and unmistakable. Its object can conceivably be no other than to increase the happiness of mankind.". Sunday, February 19, 2012. Chop three carrots and a coupl...

Savor South: Chicken penne soup for a snowy night
http://savorsouth.blogspot.com/2012/02/chicken-penne-soup-for-snowy-night.html
The Blog of Southern Food. Sunday, February 19, 2012. Chicken penne soup for a snowy night. It's a cold, icy afternoon with sleet pelting the windows. We're waiting for the first real snowfall of the year to descend on the North Carolina Piedmont tonight. So while we wait for this much-anticipated snow, we're making chicken soup. Since the rotisserie chicken didn't have much meat left, we defrosted a couple of chicken breasts from the freezer, cooked them on the stovetop, and sliced them into bite-size p...

April 19, 2017. Adam and Rachel's Wedding Day. They opted to knock out their family photos on the beach before the ceremony, allowing all the time after to be dedicated to enjoying their time with their family and friends. I love when couples are purposeful about using their time on the wedding day in ways that allow them to relax, slow down, and enjoy the day! Folly Beach Wedding Vendors. Coordination, Peper Events. The Blog of Southern Food. Wednesday, August 31, 2011. Tomato Sandwiches: Southern or Universal? Today for lunch, I assembled a simple tomato sandwich. Duke's mayonnaise: check. Salt and pepper: check. On a sandwich, of course.). The only acceptable mayo for a Southern tomato sandwich. So, a homegrown crop wit...

Savor South: Still Rolling On ...
http://savorsouth.blogspot.com/2012/02/still-rolling-on.html
The Blog of Southern Food. Friday, February 17, 2012. Still Rolling On . A couple of weeks ago, while unpacking some boxes, I came across a rolling pin. Not just any rolling pin, mind you. My great-grandmother’s rolling pin. I cleaned it up a little and applied some mineral oil to moisturize the wood. Although made of sturdy oak, it’s showing some wear and tear … including a square indentation where someone apparently tried to use it as a hammer. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Savor South: September 2011
http://savorsouth.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
The Blog of Southern Food. Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Sweet Charlotte, Redux. I wrote about wanting to make a Charlotte. Aside from the somewhat complicated recipes I had seen, one of the things holding me back was the lack of a Charlotte mold. Given that new Charlotte molds sell for upwards of $35 in kitchen stores, I naturally had to have it. So I brought it home, cleaned it up and am now searching for the perfect Charlotte recipe to try out. To be continued …. Sunday, September 18, 2011. Legend says...
