Skip to main content. Permeable driveways create a natural filter for groundwater rather than allowing toxic runoff to enter the storm drain system. They also have the advantage of allowing trees and other plants to benefit from more rainwater. We installed our first permeable driveway in 2009 and coined the phrase "Unpaving Our Way into the Future". Our first attempt at this was a success, but not without challenges.
