The cost for one midwifery student is $4,200 per year, including training, housing, and expenses. Students receive all of this free-of-charge. The Ethiopian government plans to place two rural health extension workers in every community throughout the country. We have trained more than 4,000 of these workers in safe delivery and fistula prevention and will continue this effort.
