May 10, 2015. 160 million years ago, a chunk of land broke off the super continent Godwalla, and voila! 8221; (“hello, white person! 8221; in a mix of French and Malagasy). Madagascar was quite an experience. We may have to split it up into a few posts…. We would not necessarily advise traveling in Madagascar without someone who speaks a little French or Malagasy! You can see the strip of rice paddies right in the middle.

It’s just that Ireland was similar in some ways, but so much happier to have us traversing its shores. At the time, we just knew that Derry was a small town with nice, historic walls. In addition to hiking around the Giant’s Causeway, we saw ruins of a castle on a cliff, and walked over a very scenic old rope bridge used for fishing. The bizarre rocks are 100% natural!

To connect with loved ones across the miles. Turkey, Part 2. May 27, 2015. Hard, but also kind of chalky. There are pools all over, some human-made, some natural, some with hot, some with cold water. We had an inside tip to be there for sunset. Want the formation to grow, and maybe has been for hundreds (thousands? An ancient Greek warrior! Huge, awesome theater a little higher on the hillside. Close-up on the incredible carving detail on the stage area. If you look hard, tiny Philip is by that huge gate.

Three posts in one…. May 27, 2015. It’s been a month since I’ve last posted… Life has been swirling by quite fast. I’m mostly consumed by the busyness of work – lots of travel, lots of changes. (Nothing major from an external perspective – but pretty big shifts within the projects that I’m working on, which have significant implications for what my day-to-day work looks like.). So that’s one dynamic I’ve been mulling over this month. I’m working on it. Taken near my office…). This is me turning 5🙂.

I arrived in San Antonio on Friday night, March 20th, which was the beginning of Hannah and Philip’s last weekend before leaving for several months of travel, followed by their move to Boston for grad school. (They’re now a few weeks into their adventures – you can follow along on their blog, Handful of HanPhil. June 28, 2015. I am so, so excited about the Supreme Court’s recent decision about marriage equality. And I’m also relieved and pleased by the Affordable Care Act decision that SCOTUS announced the day before. And the groundswell of support for retiring the Confederate flag once and for all has been so encouraging to me as well. I’m telling you – it’s been quite the week for progressives…. I’m not sure what to do with this jumble of thoughts, but maybe just acknowledging that much is a step forward.

Sorry for the delay in posting on Iceland- now that we’re State-side, it’s hard to want to sit in front of a computer when we finally have people other than each other to talk to. ;). The tower is the famous church built to look like one of the many, many waterfalls in Iceland.
