Guided tours of the house and studio daily except Mondays. Open on Public Holidays). September to May: at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. June to August: at 11am and 2pm. Coach and mini bus tours available by arrangement. Visitors may choose to tour the studios of Hans and Nora Heysen at any time in open hours without a guide. The house may only be visited as part of a guided tour. Full tour $10 (Concession $8). Children under 14 free. Booked groups of 10 or more $7 per person.

Isitors are welcome to explore the rambling cottage garden at The Cedars it is a joy to walk around, or to sit and admire, in any season. Hans Heysen loved his garden and laid out most of the beds, and built stonework paths, walls, steps and borders of quartz and sandstone. The garden is planted with chiefly exotic species, the most significant being the massive Himalayan cedar trees which give the property its name. There are also fragrant bourbon roses, lilacs, iris and old-fashioned perennials.

N August 1912, Hans Heysen purchased The Cedars which had been built as a colonial style villa in the 1870s. In 1919, and also in the early 1920s, the Heysens renovated and updated their home. It has changed very little since that time. The rooms are filled with the furniture, textiles, objects and personal items belonging to the Heysen family.
