Thursday, April 2, 2015. Our welcome mat is quite colorful, but not today! Around our front door, you can see the sand all up the walls. What a mess! During our Spring Break, we flew to Muscat, Oman for five days. The trip is a very short one and it was beautiful! The Shangri-la was so lovely that we decided not to do much else, although we did spend an evening at the souk, walking around and taking in the culture. Thursday, May 22, 2014. A few weekends ago, Anna was visiting after her semester in Lithuania. She really wanted to go to Doha and Greg and I hadn't made the trip yet, so we headed out after school on Thursday. It didn't take very long to get to the border, but because it was a Thursday night (our Friday), traffic in Doha was nuts! All in all, it took us 4 hours to drive from our house to the hotel in Doha; our return was only 3 hours. What a great place for an easy weekend get-away! A big souq (market).

Monday, April 21, 2014. This past weekend we had a big block party with many of our neighbors. It was over 100* when we set up, but as soon as the sun went down it was breezy and comfortable. The BBQs were going and the food delicious! The kids even had an egg hunt in the grass across from our house. It was a really fun evening and we're looking forward to doing it again soon. Friday, September 27, 2013. We've now been in school a month and we have a routine. One part of that routine that's a new idea for us is coming home for lunch. It's only a 2 or 3 minute drive from school to our house so it's an easy trip! And Luki sure loves the visit mid-day (I think she really misses our Chinese housekeeper)! A couple of weeks ago, our air shipment was delivered! We know have a microwave, vacuum cleaner, Kitchenaid, toaster.the list is small but it was SO nice to get our 2 eboxes!

Thursday, July 18, 2013. It's been a very long stretch, and has required a lot of patience, but today we were granted our visas for Saudi! Even though we felt good about passing the last of the requirements, it's never a sure thing until you actually have the visa. Now we have to finalize the dog's trip (with the help of the pet relocation service) and are still trying to exercise patience as we wait for our ship date. But we're almost there!
