Most people who write read - and read lots. I had started reading seriously by the time I was 6 years old. By the time I was 11 I had read Tolkein's Lord of the Rings. 6 times and sundry other books besides - the Narnia. Series were a particualr favourite of mine as were The Famous Five and other Enid Blyton.
