Sunday, 10 July 2011. I'm not sure we will be! The article below appeared in our local paper this week, under a headline that, whilst incorporating the word "trail", is not totally accurate. The saying, 'To blaze a trail' means someone ".forging ahead and clearing a path for others", which would tend to lead towards imagining blaze to mean burn, in the same way. Another allusion might be to someone charging ahead with such vigour that they leave a smoldering trail in their wake. We are not Gurkhas, and.
