Sunday, April 3, 2011. Spring Is Almost Here. I first started sketching ducks and ducklings after watching an episode of BBC's Planet Earth depicting baby Mandarin ducks leaping. Out of their nest in the tree. I am still working on the ducklings, but the duck led me to create this greeting card. Friday, December 10, 2010. Winter Flowers and Owl Matryoshkas. This year I chose to curb my urge to do some screen printing. Instead I am digitizing my designs and printing them out on my inkjet. Delegating to the printer gave me a bit more time to bring my designs to completion sooner. The current themes seem to include owls in the shape of matryoshkas (those nested Russian dolls), largely inspired by burrowing owls, and patterns- both are now available in my Etsy shop. Thursday, September 9, 2010. Reeds in the Back Bay Fens. The Back Bay Fens is a beautiful park, designed by Frederick Law Olmstead to be part of Boston’s Emerald Necklace park system. Olmstead turned saltwater marshes and swamp into a beautiful green park that surrounds meandering Muddy River. Green in spring and golden in the fall, they whisper gently in the wind and always shine brightly against the sky. I realize that they need to be removed, but still I find them majestic. Once, and it was very good. Since then I have made multiple variations on the theme. I find that using a covered baking dish (e.g. a dutch oven or a covered pyrex dish) simplifies the cooking method because you do not have to worry about picking a pumpkin of the right size and carving it. 1-2 cups of heavy cream.

The Importance of Dessert. Saturday, October 5, 2013. What's Cooking: Cauliflower Dal. 1 1/2 chana dal (yellow lentils). Veg oil for sauteing. 1 onion, chopped. 2 cloves of garlic, minced. 2 Tbsp ginger, minced. 2 tomatoes, skinned and chopped. 1 head of cauliflower, broken into florets. 1 tsp ground cumin. 1 tsp garam masala. 1 Wash out the dal, and soak for 15-20 minutes. 2 Cover dal with new cold water, bring to boil and simmer for 20 minutes, until done. 5 Add 1/2 cup of water, cover and simmer.

I discovered dupioni silk while preparing to make my wedding dress- I was learning all about different silks trying to decide which one would give me the look I wanted.
