You unplug if you want to. The Internet makes me a better parent. May 20, 2015. June 5, 2015. Firstly, let’s deal with this myth that using our phones prevents us from doing things with our children. I take my children on bike rides and to the park. (Ok, so I pretty much loathe going to the park, but. Parent and I have stated that it makes me a. Parent and it does. Most of what I read and search out online is inspiring. I defy you to read this post. The parents that I know and follow on-line and basicall...

Summer lunches, tabbouleh and coconut water. We have some mint growing in our garden and by this time of year it really starts taking over. It grows so fast it’s nice to be able to use some of it in our cooking and this tabbouleh is the perfect summer recipe to do so. My son is a huge fan of coconut water so he has been enjoying these mini bottles of flavour to add to his drinks. The Stur. Handful of mint leaves. A couple of tomatoes. Dash of olive oil. Cook the bulgar wheat according to the instructions...

Win name labels from Petit Fernand - Rainbeaubelle

Win name labels from Petit Fernand. It’s nearly the end of the school year and time to start thinking about buying new uniforms and shoes for the return to class in September. I always try to order my son’s school stuff early on in the holidays, to avoid the inevitable back to school panic on August bank holiday weekend. And the designs are so cute and original I agreed straight away. The iron-on name labels. I chose come in several different colours with a choice of design to go at the side. I let S...

Me and Mine – A Portrait for June. Last month I joined in for the first time with the Me and Mine. Project, where you share a family portrait at the end of each month. We had some beautiful photographs. Taken by our friend and photographer Colin McPherson. And I felt I wanted to share them on my blog. This month, our photograph is very different! From the hospice and I thought it would be a good chance to take a few photos while we were feeling more relaxed. I know how hard it is to get a family phot...

Gone, but never forgotten - Rainbeaubelle
http://rainbeaubelle.com/gone-but-never-forgotten
Gone, but never forgotten. Monday was the day of Roger’s funeral and despite worrying about how it would go, what I would say, whether I would be able to speak (or even stand), it went really well and I might even go as far to say it was a day of celebration, thanksgiving and love. As I wrote a few weeks ago, I decided I was going to write something. So with several breaks, and while holding our gorgeous but extremely clingy daughter, here is what I said…. When I started blogging, he always read my posts...

Summer beauty favourites - Rainbeaubelle

Sometimes the products you use on your skin just don’t seem to work as well as they usually do and it’s time for a change. I find if I use the same creams on my face for a while I don’t feel as much of the benefit as I did when I first used them, so I like to swap things around every now and again. I’ve been taking a skin, hair and nails vitamin supplement but as it’s only been a few weeks I’m not sure how much of a difference that’s made yet. I’ve been using it in place of a serum morning and nigh...

Me and Mine - photo portrait for July
http://rainbeaubelle.com/me-and-mine-a-portrait-for-july
Me and Mine – A portrait for July. Although it makes me so sad to know that these are the last photos of all of us together, I am also glad that we do have them and that we managed to make some really happy memories just days before Roger died. On the Saturday, and we had a relatively quiet day with my parents, Roger’s mum, sister and brother and my sister-in-law round to share some cake. Isn’t it lovely? Sadly, this wretched illness has meant I’ve had to come to terms with missing so much of your ...
