Tri-M Music Honor Society. About Mrs. McKay. This is Mrs. McKay's 3rd year at Swansfield ES and 12th year at Harper's Choice MS. She started playing the viola in 4th grade and fell in love with it! Her best musical experience growing up was playing with a youth orchestra for 7 years, where she was able to play a lot of great music, in some amazing concert halls in the Washington, DC area, with some amazing well-known conductors and soloists. Tri-M Music Honor Society. How do I get an instrument for my child? There are several music stores that carry good quality instruments for school aged students. Use the "Music Store" link above. I found a cheap instrument on Amazon, Ebay, at BJs/Costco or an online "music" site. Should I get it? If your child is in middle school and you are ready to purchase an instrument, Mrs. McKay is happy to assist you in choosing an instrument appropriate for your child. Tri-M Music Honor Society. Please have all materials by September 2nd! A correctly sized instrument. In good working condition. A nametag must be on the instrument case at all times. Cello and bass students may use school instruments at school, however students must provide their own instrument for home practice. You should NEVER scratch your rosin. This will only break it apart and render it useless. If you need help getting new rosin started, Mrs. McKay can assist you. Method book or Technique book.
