Friday, May 25, 2012. Feel Good Friday: Week 11. Short FGF for you this week because work has kept me super busy (gōngzuò shì fēicháng máng) so I haven't done too much. I'm sure it's the big question on everyone's mind.did I get my shipment? Well, I did not. Fail. Oh well, I'll just have to wait another month. My Mandarin is actually getting better - it's amazing what showing up for your lessons does for you! Skype award goes to Lindsay this week! Best feel good: I go home today! Labels: Feel Good Friday.

Lost In Chinatown: November 2012

Saturday, November 17, 2012. Feel Good Friday Returns. I haven't feel-good-Friday'ed in a while so I figured I'd give it another go. It has been a pretty decent week. The lady that was sent from the moving company when my shipment arrived visited Xiamen this week so we went to dinner last night. (This is the girl who brought me the flowers in this post. Pretty random friendship considering I only met her once and she doesn't even live in Xiamen.actually this situation is very me and I love it! Last night...

Lost In Chinatown: How to Make a Laowai Happy
http://isthischinatown.blogspot.com/2012/11/how-to-make-laowai-happy.html
Tuesday, November 13, 2012. How to Make a Laowai Happy. Last night I went to a German brew house for dinner, and instead I was given an ego boost. :) After I ordered my dinner, I walked through the restaurant to find a restroom and one of the hostesses said "oh wow, so beautiful." (She said this in English so it was obviously meant for me to hear but hey I'm not picky with the delivery of compliments! Labels: Yes Im A Foreigner. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Lost In Chinatown: Inspiration in India
http://isthischinatown.blogspot.com/2013/01/inspiration-in-india.html
Tuesday, January 22, 2013. I truly believe that everyone should get the experience to visit a place that is just vastly different than where they are from. It is an eye-opening experience. In many ways, China is that place for me - the language, the culture, the customs, the bathrooms (! Are all incredibly different and so many times they make me say "hmm interesting". Now after spending eight weeks in India, I have another reference for additional cultural shock. I think this pretty much captures it.

Lost In Chinatown: I have stuff!
http://isthischinatown.blogspot.com/2012/06/i-have-stuff.html
Thursday, June 21, 2012. My shipment has arrived! I am so happy! It ended up being a good experience too - the shipping company sent their regional manager from Guangzhou (hour flight) to supervise the delivery. She was very nice, spoke great English, and came bearing gifts! Flowers from my shipping company - I love lilies! Obviously I'm super excited to have a fully furnished apartment - I now have more than just a couch, clothes, and a desk in my apartment! I'm super excited about my punching bag!

My friend gave me a little warning about 5 seconds beforehand, but I was still shocked. And this was no quick ear cleaning - it lasted about 5 minutes per ear. Labels: Adventures in China. Lost In Chinatown: Home for the Holidays
http://isthischinatown.blogspot.com/2013/01/home-for-holidays.html
Thursday, January 3, 2013. Home for the Holidays. I was able to go home for the Christmas holidays and needless to say, I was pretty excited. I've been traveling between China and India for the past few months and it gets a little exhausting. Add to that the fact that Christmas isn't celebrated in China and I knew I should consider going home for the holiday. Thanksgiving? That I can miss. But Christmas is a different story! It was a good break! Everything in my suitcase. Check it out on Kristen's blog.

Lost In Chinatown: June 2012

Friday, June 29, 2012. Feel Good Friday: Week 16. Good week this week - here's what made me feel good:. After three days of cold showers,. I finally got my water heater to turn on. I guess I eventually pressed the right combination of buttons. Sunday amendment: the water heater is broken again. I still have not figured out how to work my intercom system so when people come to visit (basically just my Mandarin tutor or the movers), I just push buttons and hope it lets them in. And told me I am brave!

Lost In Chinatown: January 2013
http://isthischinatown.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 31, 2013. I feel like I had a round of initiations into China this weekend. I went to a Chinese village and was able to live a little bit like a local. The little town was really cool and had an awesome quaint feel (especially in the morning before any tourists arrived). It was really cute and I enjoyed it! There were also a few very unique China experiences that I got to enjoy as well. An example of a squat pot - this is honestly the cleanest one I've ever seen. 2) I rode on a scooter ...
