Wednesday, April 12, 2006. Spousal Notification and Intimate Partner Violence. Within the past 10-15 years spousal notification has had a profound impact on intimate partner violence and pregnancy. In a 1991 ruling on the Pennsylvania Abortion Control Act, Judge Samuel Alito claimed that married women should be required to notify their husbands before having an abortion.
