Thursday, June 22, 2006. Zero 7 - The Garden. Rating: 3.5 out of 5. I got this album by accident. I saw it at HMV and got it, and then realized that I was thinking of Zero One. As it turns out, I think Zero 7 is better. The lyrics on The Garden. Other outstanding songs are "Throw It All Away", with a great beat for walking or driving, and "The Pageant of the Bizarre", which sounds like a love song for carnival folk. Get this album if you're looking for a unique pop soundtrack to a relaxotastic day.

Wednesday, July 05, 2006. Rating: 4 out of 5. Searching for more "experimental" musicians, I found Matthew Herbert. S song "Something Isn't Right" as part of a betterPropaganda. Podcast. Not exactly an experimental track, but very catchy. So I bought Scale. And gave it a listen. With the first few tracks, I felt like I was listening to a new album by Prince. Or maybe it would be a lost album from the 80's. The female vocalist, Dani Siciliano, often sings like Apollonia. What's the "experimentation" here?

Thursday, March 23, 2006. Rating: 5 out of 5. Anyways. Put "3121" and "Lolita" on repeat and you've got a party. Even the ballads on this album are good. I don't usually like when Prince collaborates with female singers, but Tamar works well on this album and doesn't dominate the band in her few appearances. One of the best songs, "The Word", is one of the best "I love God" songs he has ever done, ranking up there with "The Cross" and "I Would Die 4 U". Subtle lyrics are the key. From Lionhead studios, the company that did Black and White (which I hated), Populous, and Dungeon Keeper.
