http://heathcotesathome.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Great recipes – delicious, impressive but easy, from Paul Heathcote, one of our top restaurateurs. Monday, 11 June 2007. Posted by Arabella McIntyre-Brown. What it's all about. Here's an example of how the simplest of ideas can have the best results: take some really good vanilla ice cream, pour over a good measure of Pedro Ximénez sherry and serve – it's the dog's wotsits. Hope this keeps you in the kitchen – but not for too long. 8211; Paul Heathcote. Posted by Arabella McIntyre-Brown. Scoop balls from...

Publish and... damn!: March 2007
http://publishanddamn.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Publish and. damn! The printable comments on the life of a bookmaker. Some sweetly literal soul queried the use of the term 'bookmaker' at the head of this blog. Well, a modest segment of the reading masses. We're still waiting for the million-seller, I freely confess. Never believe a publisher who mutters about quality rather than quantity. We might like waving a posh book at booksellers, but we still want them to sell in truck loads. Links to this post. MERSEY MINIS ARE COMING. Links to this post.
Publish and... damn!: February 2008
http://publishanddamn.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Publish and. damn! The printable comments on the life of a bookmaker. Lives in six words. In the 1920s, Ernest Hemingway bet ten dollars that he could write a complete story in just six words. He wrote: "For Sale: baby shoes, never worn." He won the bet. Try it. It's not easy. You don't have to write your entire autobiography - go back to Hemingway's example and create a complete, but short, story. Dick Hadfield: Foetus, son, brother, husband, father, vegetable. Robin Pickering: If only I had turned left.

Publish and. damn! The printable comments on the life of a bookmaker. Stephen King on books. The staggeringly successful novelist says:. 8220;Books are the perfect entertainment: no commercials, no batteries, hours of enjoyment for each dollar spent. What I wonder is why everybody doesn't carry a book around for those inevitable dead spots in life.”. Picked up from John Kremer's Bookmarketing Tips newsletter - see link to site opposite). Goings-on in Liverpool and Transylvania; publishing, HGVs, nonsense, wolves, bears and chickens. We had a great email this morning from Orkney. Gladdens a publisher's heart, this kind of thing. Tom gets a gold star and undying gratitude. I was really impressed with the 'Mersey Minis' book. it is a gem. It's quirky, charming and 'unputdownable'. The woodcuts by Clare Curtis compliment the book so well and give a sense of atmosphere and life to the text.". Tom Muir, Orkney Boat Museum. Dana Goia on culture.

Goings-on in Liverpool and Transylvania; publishing, HGVs, nonsense, wolves, bears and chickens. Story of the week. Couldn't resist this story from Ananova: what a fantastic conflict of interests. Mourners shivering in a chapel are to be kept warm using heat generated from cremating their loved ones. The idea will be tried at a crematorium near Manchester where grieving friends and relatives have complained of the cold during services. Http:/ www.ananova.com/news/story/sm 2672129.html?
