Heather & Jed Eastman: Trip to the South - Nashville, TN
http://heatherandjed.blogspot.com/2011/12/trip-to-south-nashville-tn.html
Sunday, December 4, 2011. Trip to the South - Nashville, TN. We've been looking forward to visiting Nashville for a while now. It is such a cool city with such a fun vibe. Anyone musically inclined, you should make your way to Tennessee! Hog Heaven - pulled turkey sandwich with white BBQ sauce (one of my top 3 things we had) and a BBQ pulled pork sandwich. Jed knew I loved his turkey more than my pork, so he traded me. What a guy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Gong Xi Fa Cai! Malachi and his heart.
Heather & Jed Eastman: May 2011
http://heatherandjed.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Monday, May 30, 2011. Ocean, golf clubs, a nice drive from SF = Monterey California. We love exploring and haven't done near enough in this city. We wanted to "get out of town" and figured a quick day trip to Monterey would do the trick. We enjoyed 17 mile drive, a quick peek at Pebble Beach (Jed was in heaven! Ate an awesome sandwich, spent some time walking around Carmel By the Sea (adorbs) and finished with a pit stop in Santa Cruz for a mind-blowing milkshake. Icing on the cake of a great day.

Side dish - mac and cheese.
Heather & Jed Eastman: Trip to the South - Memphis and Driving
http://heatherandjed.blogspot.com/2011/12/trip-to-south-memphis-and-driving.html
Sunday, December 4, 2011. Trip to the South - Memphis and Driving. Once we left Nashville, it only made sense to go through Memphis, have some Memphis BBQ, visit Elvis "The King" Presley's homeland, before settling in for our long drive to New Orleans. Corky's BBQ - Ribs, mac and cheese, and spaghetti. After recalling what I ordered, I realize I don't make the best choices in food. But, luckily Jed does and we enjoyed a slab together. Heather & Jed Eastman: January 2011
http://heatherandjed.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 30, 2011. Sorry East Coast friends. Found these two guys just laying around. This is a silly city we live in. Did I mention it's January? Sunday, January 23, 2011. I think Tyler Florence is getting a restraining order against us. The store was AMAZING! Everything was so pretty. The ladies room was my dream bathroom. A sweet little lady even passed out due to the beauty that was before us. (Not really.apparently she had a bad reaction to her new meds.rest assured, she's...After drooling an...

Tuesday, May 3, 2011. I put this rub on a rack of ribs (about 12 hours before cooking them). Then the next day, I put it on some mahi mahi (about 10 minutes before grilling it). It was good on the ribs, but amazing on the mahi mahi. That was the best piece of fish I've ever cooked. The rub has just a little bit of a kick (McKenzie said it was spicy, but she still tried it) and has a great sweetness. The rub keeps for about a month and should be good on just about anything. 1 tablespoon dark brown sugar.
MakeTasteSmile: Habanero Salsa
http://maketastesmile.blogspot.com/2011/11/habanero-salsa.html
Tuesday, November 29, 2011. Here's the recipe for the habanero salsa that I made. It's from Rick Bayless. 5 cloves garlic, unpeeled. 1 medium carrot, roughly chopped. Half of a small onion (about 1/2 cup), roughly chopped. 12 medium (about 5 ounces) orange habanero chiles, stemmed. 1 cup apple cider vinegar. About 2 teaspoons salt. Roast the garlic in a skillet over medium heat, turning regularly until soft and blackened in spots, 10 to 15 minutes. Cool and peel. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Wednesday, November 30, 2011. You don't always need to have posole with cornbread, but they do go really well together. Of course the best way to have posole is on top of your Christmas tamales. Or large can of hominy. 2-3 cloves garlic, crushed. 2 pounds pork steak or pork roast, cubed. 6 medium red chile pods (optional). Salt and pepper to taste. 1/4 tsp dried oregano. 1/2 tsp cumin seed, crushed. 12 oz chopped mild green chile. 2 can whole tomatoes, chopped with juice. 1 1/2 T sugar. 1 1/2 c. milk.
MakeTasteSmile: April 2011
http://maketastesmile.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 3, 2011. Cumin, Coriander, and Lime-Brined Ribs. I barbecued pork ribs today. This time I brined them first. They turned out great and the meat practically fell off the bone. It made me a big believer in brining ribs. I may not use the same brine next time, but I will brine. Here's how to make the brine. Cook the ribs the same as always. 1 tablespoon ground cumin. 1 tablespoon ground coriander. Tablespoon ground crushed red pepper. 2 tablespoons kosher salt. 1 teaspoon ground black pepper.

And sweet little Claire. Monday, October 3, 2011. Look everybody.a post! So, I disappeared for a while there. But I'm back! Just in case you were wondering what our little fam has been up to, here ya go:. We went to Moab with our families during the hottest week of the summer, and survived! Claire turned 3 and had a fun little pool party. But I ordered that we get out of there pronto to avoid such a scene. Oh, I hate bats.), so we took a row the next morning instead. We went boating with my family. To be...
Rachel and Brady: October 2010

And sweet little Claire. Saturday, October 23, 2010. Winter is here with a vengeance, and much like almost everyone else in the state I am not happy about it. This last summer was one of the best summers of my life. Fall too. We resolved in the spring that we would get out there and enjoy life and the great outdoors as much as we possibly could, and we did! This last week we made the last s'mores of the season. We were so sad that we had to say a few words as we extinguished the fire-. Links to this post.
Rachel and Brady: July 2012
http://rachelandbrady.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
And sweet little Claire. Tuesday, July 31, 2012. A camping we will go. Brady made a mean dutch oven, as usual. We roasted marshmallows and made s'mores, threw rocks in the water, and Claire spent a fair amount of time hunting for Tinkerbell in the forest after we happened to spot some random green glitter on a rock. Camping while 6 months pregnant? Visiting around the fire. S'mores.one of the best parts of camping. My little outdoors-y girl. So excited to sleep in the big tent! Links to this post. The la...

And sweet little Claire. Wednesday, August 15, 2012. It's hard to believe my baby is the ripe old age of 4! Claire hit the milestone last week, and I'm pretty sure that instead of turning 4 she actually turned 14. The girl is full of opinions- from what she eats to what she wears to how her hair is done and the kind of music she likes (not to mention what I. Wear and how my. And the funny thing is, it often is. A decent idea she's pitching, just not in line with the current plan. After all my declaration...

MakeTasteSmile: Pasta Carbonara
http://maketastesmile.blogspot.com/2011/11/pasta-carbonara.html
Wednesday, November 16, 2011. I found this recipe on Gojee. And made it tonight. I made the pasta from scratch using the Italian flour. I got from Amazon.com. It was awesome: the best pasta recipe I've made. It would be great even without homemade pasta. I used bacon (finely chopped, fat removed) and a yellow onion (couldn't find a shallot). I did top it with a slow cooked egg. But I would consider that optional. 15 oz freshly grated pecorino romano. 1 large raw egg. Freshly ground black pepper.

Wholly Surrendered
Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Sorry for the novel, I just wanted to write it all out while it was fresh in my mind. It scared Jason, myself and everyone in the room. I would have paid money to see the faces on the women who were in the rooms next to mine. I wouldn’t be surprised if they started asking their nurses for pain meds if they weren't already hooked up already. This baby was coming and she was coming now! Faith weighed in at 8lbs 1 oz and measured 19.5 inches. Saturday, February 25, 2012. She agreed it ...

Heather & Jed Eastman
Monday, March 12, 2012. After 2.5 of fog, we traded San Fran for snow! We are back in the great state of Utah and have purchased our first home. We love living in SLC and we love being closer to our family, and we love having a car, and we love having more space, and we love toweling off with dry towels. We don't like spending money on less exciting things like PLUMBING, but that's what you get when you buy a house built in 1950. Follow us on Instagram: @heastman or @jedeastman. See you on the interwebs.

Blue skies and brown eyes. Blogging my way through becoming a mommy. :). View my complete profile. Friday, August 23, 2013. It's definitely been a while. Wow I can't believe how long it's been since I've made an entry on this blog. Last time I updated, it was November and I was in the middle of losing weight, getting healthy - but most importantly, training for my first ever half marathon! All I can say is it was one of the most torturous, painful, and amazing experiences in my life! I plan on training b...
