a bend in the road: thank you
http://sara-sensei.blogspot.com/2011/10/thank-you.html
A bend in the road. Saturday, October 29, 2011. I just want to take a few moments here before Nanowrimo starts - and I devote even more of my time to writing! Also, thank you for the comments. I've received some very wonderful and touching comments and emails from you all, and they really do make my day. They help me remember that there is a whole group of people out there who care about and remember Lauren, that Geordie and I are not alone in mourning her absence. That means so much to me. Faces of Loss...

a bend in the road: April 2009
http://sara-sensei.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
A bend in the road. Thursday, April 30, 2009. I was supposed to get my internet hooked up today, but once again, the internet gods hate me and are making my life miserable. I'm not 100% what the internet guy was trying to tell me, but I'm certain that it was not good news. I think it can be done, but not before next week. He told me to call and set up another appointment for after May 5th. Is the only horse-related thing I can come up with, and that just seems wrong. Okay, not that I think eating. Thursd...

A bend in the road. Saturday, October 29, 2011. A bit of a hiatus. So, have a good weekend, all! I'll be back again in no time. I just want to take a few moments here before Nanowrimo starts - and I devote even more of my time to writing! Thank you, for everything. Tags: family and friends. Thursday, October 27, 2011. And I’m so angry now! It was hard to be angry in such a peaceful, beautiful place like Mishima Taisha, but I feel it now. Why did this happen to her - to us? In these quiet moments, I find ...

A bend in the road. Friday, February 27, 2009. Fun things that happened this week. No food, sorry . . . okay, there is a little at the end. the next three posts, I promise). Which leads me to one awesome thing that happened this week: Rio's mother looking kind of shocked when I told her that. "You have 6 hours before your first class today? And you still come in? What do you do? And, yes, I adore my students. Even my kid students have their moments. 3 One of my students signed papers to buy a house this ...

a bend in the road: my new reality

A bend in the road. Thursday, October 27, 2011. And I’m so angry now! It was hard to be angry in such a peaceful, beautiful place like Mishima Taisha, but I feel it now. Why did this happen to her - to us? Why is it that we have to let go of our dreams for the future? Why are we the ones who have to mourn our daughter, while others can continue to dream and smile and laugh and LIVE? Tags: hopes and dreams. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). a bend in the road: July 2009
http://sara-sensei.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
A bend in the road. Friday, July 31, 2009. These are my favorite Kit Kats. Not necessarily because of their taste but because you have to wonder, "Who thought this was a good idea? Who came up with this flavor? Seriously, imagine what an awesome job this would be, coming up with new flavors for Japanese Kit Kats. How do I explain ramune (ラムネ)? Just for the hell of it, as far as I can tell. It's a Kit Kat that fizzes in your mouth! Because they are.) This is a grilled corn (やきもろこし) Kit Kat. Weird,...And w...

a bend in the road: the Earthquake
http://sara-sensei.blogspot.com/2011/11/earthquake.html
A bend in the road. Sunday, November 6, 2011. A Friday. A good day, then, because Geordie would be coming home. He’d meet me as I was finishing work, and we’d probably have dinner together in Loc City. Ramen, maybe. Then home to relax a bit together and to talk about the week. Those were all the plans we had made. But the shaking did not stop. Instead, it intensified. That made me pause. Then a can of soup fell off the shelf above the kitchen sink, and I knew that this was not an ordinary earthquake, tha...

http://sara-sensei.blogspot.com/2011/10/japan-picture-gallery-i.html
A bend in the road. Wednesday, October 26, 2011. Japan: a picture gallery (I). I had another busy day today and didn't get much writing done. So, what I'm going to give you in this post are some of my favorite pictures from my life here in Japan. This week has been hard as Geordie and I say goodbye to this beautiful country we've come to love so much. Look for more in the next posting. Let's start this off right: Mt. Fuji from Gotemba, March 2009. A lion guardian at a shrine in Takayama, January 2009.

a bend in the road: March 2009
http://sara-sensei.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
A bend in the road. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. I have much to share and precious little time to do it in. Moving my small space is bad enough, but add in closing shop at the school and the social whirlwind of closing parties and goodbye lunches, and time flies right out the window. Perhaps saddest of all: this marks the end of my freedom to wear sneakers and jeans most of the day. I get the feeling that I will once again be considering buying stock in blister treatments. My feet already hurt. Will someone ...
