Ixtapa - March 15-22, 2009. Winter vacation in Mexico, our first visit to Ixtapa. Monday, March 16, 2009. Los Pobres con Nosotros. As is so often the case, I find myself reflecting on the uneven distribution of wealth and opportunity. People in this hotel work very long hours in the heat, literally running with buckets of beer, on hard concrete and on the scorching beach. This year, we knew where we were going and stopped at Vinoy Park. Hunger drew us to the bayfront area and we parked near Vladimir's, a collectibles shop that looked intriguing, but not today. Chased from our little harbor by the big bad great blue heron. Turns out, that egret is quite happy to stay out of the heron's way. A buffet grazer, the egret has his own routine. Bob and Caths Spring Break. Friday, March 23, 2012. Late this morning, we visited Suncoast Bird Sanctuary. In Indian Shores. I was a little afraid of seeing injured and rehabilitated birds, fearing a reaction similar to the sadness I felt at the Clearwater Aquarium.
