Monday, August 15, 2011. This week at the library we took a look at Japan. In the spirit of Japanese arts, I watercolored with the grade school kids. Some selected images from books and some simply used the paints. A finished Mt. Fuji! With my preschoolers, we made Japanese fans. From card stock, i cut a traditional fan shape and glued popsicle sticks on the back. Some colored their fans with markers. And some collaged with origami paper! Emmett wanted to make his all blue and asked if he could paint his.

Hens & Chicks: Memory Game

http://www.hensandchickscrafts.blogspot.com/2011/07/memory-game.html

Monday, July 25, 2011. These photos were taken awhile ago and for some reason i never posted them. I got the idea from one of my favorite blogs, childhood magic.which is sadly gone from the blog world. And i know for a fact a lot of moms miss your blog Ariella! This project we actually used for a birthday present for one of emmett's friends when we are a little tight on money. and I think handmade presents are way better. We collected some thick sticks and then dad used his saw to cut them.

Hens & Chicks: Africa

http://www.hensandchickscrafts.blogspot.com/2011/07/africa.html

Sunday, July 24, 2011. I work part time as the Program Coordinator for a little library in the Hudson Valley (one that is under 1000 square feet). Our Summer Reading Program, One World, Many Stories. Is a theme we use to promote literacy through books, programs and community events. Below are crafts that were inspired by our Africa. I also gave them stencils of Egypt and African masks. I was impressed with the results! Even at 3 years old, Emmett really took to the stencils. Beautiful and super simple!

Hens & Chicks: A Buggy Birthday Bash!

http://www.hensandchickscrafts.blogspot.com/2011/07/week-4-buggy-birthday-bash.html

Tuesday, July 12, 2011. A Buggy Birthday Bash! My little guy turned 3 this past week! We had a nature/bug theme birthday party for him. The first thing I wanted to create were the favors! We had about 7 kids coming. I had been saving and collecting jars for a while and couldn't think of a better thing to to use them for.catching fireflies! Using some of Meade's art work, I cut out big #3's. Luckily, I stumbled upon an old gift bag I received it had ladybugs all over it. To make a felt birthday crown.

The Sweetest Things: March 2011

http://thesweetestthings-meadeingram.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 6, 2011. I love the last few weeks of winter, when you start to realize spring is creeping in. The best kind of winter day is when you have to take layers of clothing off because it keeps getting warmer. This day in particular we went to Bill's house because he has an insane collection of witch hazels  (64 different varieties to be exact). My son enjoyed looking at all of the honey bees landing on the witch hazel flowers.  The fragrance is intoxicating! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Simple te...
