Musings of a Milkmaid. Adventures on a small homestead. The Indian Ladder Trail. June 22, 2015. Middot; by daisysmilkmaid. The Park is most known for it’s famous Indian Ladder Trail. In fact, I always thought it a very boring. Day after we got home from church- unless we had a friend over or something like that. I remember the kind...

Musings of a Milkmaid. Adventures on a small homestead. Oxen: Living a Dream. July 24, 2015. Middot; by daisysmilkmaid. Maybe that’s where this whole thing started. And here I am, years later, doing what I never thought I’d ever do for real. We had so many ...

Musings of a Milkmaid. Adventures on a small homestead. May 29, 2015. Middot; by daisysmilkmaid. Hazel is finally settling into a routine. While I am still using the anti-kick device purely as precaution she has accepted her fate as a nurse-mama and milk cow.🙂 When it’s milking time she leads into the stanchion beautifully where she stands crunching contentedly on a whole bowl-full of carrots as I wash her udder and teats. A completely transformed cow from last weekend! Hillside Homestead’s Oliver.
