The Floor / Wood Floor Refinishing / The Neverending Story. We've redone floors before. Remember this. How these gorgeous oak floors polished up like nobody's business in record time? Well, we were expecting something of the same results this time. We were waaaaaay wrong. Crazy wrong. Absurdly wrong. Our first problem was the oh-so-awful blue carpet that was super stinky. Remember this. So, with joy in our eyes and excitement in our steps, we headed off to Home Depot to rent the floor sander. We hauled i...

Swimsuit weather is really far away, right? So I'm good.maybe. I think. Probably just eat more pudding and it will all be okay. 3 garlic cloves, crushed or chopped. 1/2 c corn meal. 1 T cracked black pepper. 2 tsp smoked paprika. 1 tsp garlic powder. 1/2 tsp. onion powder. 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper. 3 lbs chicken (4 breasts or 6 thighs, etc.). oil and blue: APPLE CIDER DONUTS
http://www.oilandblue.com/2017/02/apple-cider-donuts.html
These are so crispy on the outside, warm and soft on the inside, and have just a bit of apple tang from the concentrated apple cider in the dough. Mix the dry ingredients together, then add the liquids to it and mix well. When your oil reaches 350'F, drop your donuts into the oil. They should sink to the bottom, then float to the top. When they float, flip them over until they are browned on both sides. Don't cook too many at once, as the temperature drops when the cold donuts are added. 1/2 tsp. salt.

Demolition - Phase II - The Faux Wood and Faux Stone Paneling - Young Branch
http://www.youngbranch.com/2014/12/demolition-phase-ii-faux-wood-and-faux.html
Demolition - Phase II - The Faux Wood and Faux Stone Paneling. From what we can figure this house sat in it's original state until the family who owned it came in to some money in the late 1970s. Using my old real estate law office sleuthing skills, I discovered that the family sold a large amount of the farm in 1978 - probably around the time the father would have been retiring. What do you do when you have excess cash and are a retiree? Why, you redo your house, of course! A real front door! Southweste...

How to Make Plaster Paperweights - Young Branch
http://www.youngbranch.com/2014/02/how-to-make-plaster-paperweights.html
How to Make Plaster Paperweights. I've been itching to do a little DIY with concrete. The husband is out harvesting prairie seed for a few days, so it is a perfect opportunity to make a little bit of a mess and indulge in my crafty side. However, with the husband gone - I am also unable to carry the 60 pound bag of concrete from my car to the house - so plaster will have to do! Great project over at Notcot and decided I had to try it myself with some tweaks. Pour that stuff in! Southwestern Area Rug on t...

Demolition Phase IV / Plaster and Insulation and Snakes. Snow shovels in the living room became quite commonplace. After we demoed all the nasty paneling, we discovered plaster walls which were in okay shape. I figured I could fill the big holes and skim coat the whole thing and wed have lovely original plaster walls. Plaster makes me so happy, it is just right. 160;However, that wasnt going to be an option. Noticing the walls were a bit chilly and since we already. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Demolition Phase V / The Last of the Demo / The Kitchen. This is a rather small and somewhat confusing space, so I'll start with a floor plan of what it was and what it is now. You can see how little useable space is actually in here. No 1 - this is the stove. This was blocking flow through the room and was also incredibly dangerous. Come around the corner and set your lunch bag on the stove? No 2 - the sink - a nice composite sink, but totally not our style. It now resides in the shop. What it is now:.
