Impressions from Around the World. The Lifecycle of a Phoebe. June 29, 2011. First, put two adult Phoebes together. They make a nest and lay eggs in it. Usually 5, but this year there was only 4. After much sitting on the eggs to hatch, you get these little fuzzy things. Feeding them plenty of ‘bugs’, it doesn’t take long for them to really fill the nest. Odd name for a flower, until you see them.When they first bud, the seed case is pointed at the top and they actually look like green shafted drumsticks. Unfortunately, my computer ate my pictures of that event, so i have to start when they are somewhat rounded, as seen below, where they are just starting to emerge from their casings.
