Hinterlands arts & culture blog. Dureresque medieval and renaissance art projects blog. I’ve been a working artist ever since. I’ve been a scientific illustrator at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga for almost twenty years: I literally wandered in off the street holding a poster I’d found that read, Can You Draw? I’m now a member of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators and my drawings of fossil and living mammals have appeared in many scientific journals and books.

Too Much White Paper. Art, pigments, reviews. Verdigris Part 2: Oil Paint and Matching. May 6, 2015. May 10, 2015. After my first verdigris post. The mix isn’t as transparent and has far higher tinting strength, even though I used so much terre verte. Plus, the mix was only intended to match verdigris.
