Paris Trip: Day 2: The Louvre, Les Tuileries, L’Orangerie and L'Arc de Triomphe

http://historicalparis.blogspot.com/2008/01/day-2-louvre-les-tuileries-lorangerie.html

Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Day 2: The Louvre, Les Tuileries, L’Orangerie and L'Arc de Triomphe. Today started out poorly. For some reason our alarm either A. did not go over or B. did not wake us up. We were awaken by a pounding on the door at 8:50. 10 minutes before we had to leave for the day. I guess the good news was that I didn't have jet lag! When you enter the Louvre from the Palais Royal/Musee du Louvre metro stop you are granted first with an inverted pyramid. We found David's Coronation of Na...

Paris Trip: Day 6: Gregorian Mass, Versailles, and Arc night shots

http://historicalparis.blogspot.com/2008/01/day-6-gregorian-mass-versaille-and-arc.html

Monday, January 21, 2008. Day 6: Gregorian Mass, Versailles, and Arc night shots. I didn't blog about this yesterday because I was far too tired, and we got back far too late. It was an early wake up call yesterday as six of us went to Gregorian mass at Notre Dame. The mass was partially in Latin and mostly in French. The music was beautiful, as was the setting, but the language barrier for the homily made that part not as enjoyable. Franglish isn’t as funny as Engrish, but still. BMW, take note! King's ...

Paris Trip: Day 7: The Pompidou, The Pantheon, and walking about

http://historicalparis.blogspot.com/2008/01/day-7-pompidou-pantheon-and-walking.html

Monday, January 21, 2008. Day 7: The Pompidou, The Pantheon, and walking about. It just didn't seem like the best way to spend the day. But itineraries are itineraries, so we embarked. We went to the top of the exterior escalator and got a great view of the city:. This is more of what I was expecting to see. Artist 1: "Look, at the art I have created. It makes a statement about how the monochromatic and conformist world crushes those with a view that differs from the mainstream." Artist 2: "B...After the...

Get outside and explore! Amazing adventures are just outside your door! Wednesday, May 23, 2007. Redrock Canyon and the Trona Pinnacles. This was a day trip that could easily be made into a very nice weekend. You can easily make this into a weekend by taking the road west towards Kernville. And spending some time in the Sequoia national forest, or by continuing on route 178 into Death Valley. We started our adventure by driving up to Redrock. Canyon tells it's fascinating. The Historical Panoramas project provides a unique and visually dramatic way to explore the development of Perth and Fremantle as far back as the 1860s. Some of the panoramas in the tour were formed by stitching. Onto a single piece of film. To conti...
