The Commission came into being as a result of the passage of the Town's Comprehensive Plan. Meetings of the Commission are held the third Monday of every month at 6:45 pm at the Hiram Shorey History Center. Public attendance at these meetings is welcomed and encouraged.

Built in 1840 by Elias and Nancy (Billings) Plimpton. Elias was the owner and proprietor of E. Plimpton and Sons which made rakes and hoes. The Purington Shorey Homestead. Birthplace of Hiram E. Shorey. The Charles Goodwin Farm. The Hutchinson Farm C1800. Near Dingley Road off of Pine Tree Road. The Hutchinson Farm C1920. This farm belonged to Harvey Hutchinson who was grandson of Samuel Hutchinson. Samuel was the one who decided to name Smithfield, Litchfield . Upper Pond Road next to Cider Mill.
