Things I Don’t Want to Live Without. Posted by Jennifer Harris. February 8, 2013. Peonies (Photo credit: jessyroos). In no particular order, these are some things I’m grateful for and don’t want to live without:. At least one dog and one cat in the house. Smell of freshly mown grass. One friend who knows me so well she’s not afraid to be honest. The sound of my daughter’s laughter. A freshly sharpened pencil. Handmade quilt on the bed. A flower garden in the yard. Birds on my bird feeder. A good road map.

In Memory Of Robert L. Freer. Posted by Jennifer Harris. October 20, 2013. There’s something like a line of gold thread running through a man’s words when he talks to his daughter, and gradually over the years it gets to be long enough for you to pick up in your hands and weave into a cloth that feels like love itself. My father died last Sunday at age 87 and I miss him. The fact that he lived a long and happy life is comforting but I selfishly wish I had more time to hear his voice and laugh with him.

Finally the Courage | Glint of Light on Broken Glass

https://yaelharris.com/2013/01/15/finally-the-courage

Posted by Jennifer Harris. January 15, 2013. It is scary to be a woman of my age and starting a new career. I wish I could say that I struck out bravely to fulfill my needs as an individual, regardless the cost and uncertainty. Instead, I am slightly ashamed that an intolerable work experience was the catalyst for this change. Still, that experience finally gave me the courage to tackle a career that I have wanted for many years. So, what am I doing on this blog? Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Lessons Learn...

For Betty Mae and Annie Laura. Posted by Jennifer Harris. March 17, 2013. Have we built upon each generation or do they hold me up against their values–unchanging? If my ancestral mothers saw me preparing for marriage, how many thought of unions of bondage? How many remembered bonds of love? How many labor pains held hours of grief over expectations not accomplished? How many times did having a child mean the end of youth? How many times the beginning of joy? I am the first in that long line of women to ...

What I Want My Daughter To Know, Pt. 1. Posted by Jennifer Harris. February 13, 2013. Over the past three days, I struggled with a previous version of this post; a version that was almost entirely politically based. I came off as self-righteous and preachy, so, I dumped it into the electronic trash-bin. I started this blog in order to practice writing what I mean. Content of Their Character.
