Joe Diaz was a fixture at the speedway for over two decades. His biggest moment came when he won the main event on September 1956. Although Everett Edlund had much of his success in the Central Valley, winning multiple championships at Kearney Bowl, Clovis and Madera Speedways, he did win ten main events at San Jose Speedway, including the 1971 Johnny Key Classic.
