Suzie Loves History: February 2010

http://www.historysuzie.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 22, 2010. New technologies scare me. Sad, but true, and this class has stretched my limits! One of the reasons that I find new technology intimidating is because I rarely feel like I will need to use any technology that is not intuitive. Today I found a new technology that I think is amazing, not only for use in a classroom, but for me personally. This, of course, translates into the fact that I will actually learn. It It is a website called the Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History. Website...

Suzie Loves History: IIC Competition

http://www.historysuzie.blogspot.com/2010/04/iic-competition.html

Monday, April 12, 2010. I thought that this group was very logical in the way that they presented their goal and their tools for accomplishing their goal. Many of the other pitches had way to much information and materials to model. It was difficult to remember what their objective was, and what technology you were learning about. The technologies this group presented were simple and had a specific task that would help the students accomplish their goals. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Suzie Loves History: Internet Safety

http://www.historysuzie.blogspot.com/2010/04/internet-safety.html

Thursday, April 15, 2010. 1 What were the most important things I learned from the readings? That there are ways to try and prevent bad things from happening to you on the internet; there are ways to be safe, but nothing is a guarantee. 2 How will what I have read influence my actions as a parent and/or teacher of children and youth? 3 How can I use what I have learned from the reading to have a positive influence on family and friends? Do I know how to prevent cyberbullying? There were quite a few sites...

Thursday, March 18, 2010. Finding pretty images on Flickr. Everyone knows that in order to become a good searcher, one must learn how to narrow down the results to get the most beautiful images. For the recent assignment in this class we need to find Creative Commons-licensed pictures on flickr. So Say you search for "ice cream.". Okay Too much to handle. Narrow the results by using Advanced search to get Creative Commons-licensed content only. Ahhh the Interesting button. Where you can find This:.

Paperbacktripping into Teaching: Wiki-ness

http://paperbacktripping.blogspot.com/2010/04/wiki-ness.html

Saturday, April 17, 2010. Http:/ k12instructionaltechnology.wikispaces.com/Krista Burkhart%27s US Presidents Powerpoint Game. I think that having a wiki like this for future teachers is a great resource, we can't always come up with great ideas all the time, unfortunately. I think a wiki is something that students in a class would also benefit with as well. Posted by Krista Twitchell Burkhart. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Paperbacktripping into Teaching: Interweb Safety

http://paperbacktripping.blogspot.com/2010/04/interweb-saftey.html

Saturday, April 10, 2010. For my internet safety activity I decided to become isafe certified. Here are some statistics I learned about kids on the interned. 40% of websites ask for private information. 25% of kids encountered a stranger on online chat. 9% of kids believe it is okay to post their picture on the internet. I was shocked by these facts mainly because this is dealing with elementary school aged children! It is a sad fact that nowhere is safe in this world. Posted by Krista Twitchell Burkhart.
