http://josiejumpillustration.blogspot.com/2015/01/start-something-new.html
Wednesday, 14 January 2015. It is the start of a new year and the time where most people are assessing their situations and making various resolutions and plans for the year ahead. Whilst for many people this involves keeping fit and eating well, apple has come up with a different spin on it, which I really quite like. Naming the artists and the tools that they have used. Now anyone who might follow my instagram feed. Today I had a really great training session, I have been trying to build up my callouse...

Josie Maskell Design: Wacom Intuos Playtime
http://josiejumpillustration.blogspot.com/2015/02/wacom-intuos-playtime.html
Monday, 16 February 2015. After finding out I have been overpaying my tax all year (soon to be resolved yay! I decided to treat myself to something new. I have been meaning to buy a Wacom tablet since my final year of university when it was recommended by my course tutor. I finally got around to purchasing this Intuos Pen and Touch Tablet. And decided to have a play with it. I started off by watching a large chunk of a "Wacom essential training" course on lynda.com. Still in need of some practise I think.

Josie Maskell Design: July 2014

Wednesday, 16 July 2014. HOT14 Plymouth Graphic Design Show. Next in my series of Plymouth Degree show posts we have Graphic Design. Being an illustrator the design at Plymouth is very type based and not always my cup of tea as someone who prefers pattern and loose lines over order. These are my favourite bits from the show! Lovely type and tiny line drawings. I love the vintage feel of the faded ink here. Blown away by the masterful paper sculpture! I just like this because of the acrobatics. Follow my ...

Josie Maskell Design: Woman Magazine Circa 1954
http://josiejumpillustration.blogspot.com/2015/05/woman-magazine-circa-1954.html
Saturday, 30 May 2015. Woman Magazine Circa 1954. My last post featured some very wonderful old typography books from the days when letterpress was the norm. This blog features some more very retro imagery and type from an amazing magazine found in my grans flat. The "Worlds Greatest Weekly For Women" dated March 20th 1954 has survived over 60 years and has some truly retro, beautiful imagery which I thought I should share! Moving on to slightly creepy children and babies. So much retro goodness!

Sunday, 19 January 2014. Winter" Cd cover design. So a few months ago my dad told me he was recording a new EP to be released sometime around christmas. For the past few years I have dont the artwork for all of his CD's along with doing a bit of backing singing on various tracks which is always quite hilarious! I wanted to create a patterned border to frame the piece as I have always loved illustrations with borders like this but I have never tried to create one myself. Setting up my "studio" on our kitc...

Saturday, 8 February 2014. Moomin Adventures Book Review. I have wanted to write a review of these books for ages, well, not even so much a review more just to show them off because I think they are beautiful! My mum bought a set of these for christmas presents but I liked them so much I got her to order me a set, you can buy them here. For the absolutely stupid price of £4.99 for 3 books! Before you even get to the first page the endpapers are absolutely beautiful! What do you guys think? Illustrations ...

Josie Maskell Design: April 2014
http://josiejumpillustration.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, 3 April 2014. The Girl and the Bird. My course leader Ashley Potter from Plymouth University has been running a project to investigate how different people tackle illustration work and how this may relate to their personalities. I used Pinterest to collect a variety of images to inspire me. Since I started learning aerial hoop I have been collecting different poses to motivate myself and I found myself drawn to the idea of including this in my work for this project as the grace and elegance...

Wednesday, 14 May 2014. 20 Ways To Draw A Tree. I got this book for christmas and rediscovered it recently when clearing out my book shelf. It is a sketchbook with a difference, combining space for drawing with a huge number of drawings for inspiration. The front cover is made of matte texturised paper which makes me feel artsy for a start. Each page consists of a different "thing" to be drawn from nature, there is a huge range from acorns to snowflakes, stars, mushrooms and feathers. Ghosts of gone birds.
