Holly's Hobbies Blog. Cross Stitch-a-long →. How much fabric do I need? Today I’m answering a question that I get asked quite often in my Etsy shop and online:. 8220;How do I know how much fabric I need”. This can be calculated quite quickly once you know three things:. The number of stitches in your pattern – all charts should include a stitch count (e.g. 200 x 100) as standard. This count represents the maximum width and height of the design regardless of the fabric you use. Once you have these three n...

Holly's Hobbies Blog. Pitfalls of working for yourself →. I have some very loyal customers and great followers on Facebook, so every now and then I like to run little competitions and give away some of my charts and designs. Today I decided to ask if anyone on Facebook would like something festive designed especially for them and my ‘regulars’ all responded. A great way to end a great week and say thank you in just a small way to those people who keep me motivated to keep designing. Posted in Free Charts.

The Secret Life of a Crafter…. 8230;or the life a secret crafter? And another reversible bag…. July 28, 2013. This bag was for my lovely friend Tracey – the one who saw my own reversible bag (when I waved it around in front of her and said “look at my reversible bag that I made, isn’t it amazing? 8221;) and asked if I would make her one. When I gave it to her, she immediately put things in it and showed me how useful it was already proving to be – what a fabulous friend! Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Creat...

The Secret Life of a Crafter…. 8230;or the life a secret crafter? I’m back, with an obsession for reversible projects apparently…. July 27, 2013. I’ve made a few projects since my last post, so I’ll get myself up to date over the coming days! I’ve also noticed that I keep making reversible things – I think this is driven by the enjoyment of getting 2 new things in 1 go 🙂. This bag was a present for my sister-in-law (the very talented one who made my knitted birthday cake. Does my bum look big in this?

The Secret Life of a Crafter…. 8230;or the life a secret crafter? Does my bum look big in this? May 27, 2013. I took on my most challenging sewing project to date this weekend…and discovered that there are a number of essential skills I probably need to develop alongside my actual sewing skills, namely measuring and cutting accurately! It looked ok from the front, but the back…not so much 🙂. I found a simple skirt template that I could use from Sew 2 Pro. An amazing present…a blog award! I’m about...

The Secret Life of a Crafter…. 8230;or the life a secret crafter? The most complex (and soft) so far…. May 19, 2013. This weekend’s project has been (drumroll please)…. 8230;a patchwork cushion! It was the most worrying project so far though – having cut up and sewn together all the little squares, bodged the pattern (from The Impatient Patchworker. Fortunately, it did, so we’re all good 🙂. PS Cutting small squares of fabric is an excellent Eurovision activity! Makes you feel productive whilst leaving y...

The Secret Life of a Crafter…. 8230;or the life a secret crafter? March 25, 2013. Nope, it’s not knitted – much better, the whole thing is edible! Not only did it look amazing, it was also delicious! The Secret Life of a Crafter…. 8230;or the life a secret crafter? This one’s reversible. May 5, 2013. My 3rd sewing machine project, and my favourite so far – and I did this one over the course of 3 evenings after work, officially migrating this away from being a weekend-only hobby (where it had resided whilst it was brand new and required huge levels of concentration not generally present after a day in the office! As the basis, I used the same pattern from danamadeit. May 5, 2013 at 7:38 pm. Thank you ...

The Secret Life of a Crafter…. 8230;or the life a secret crafter? What do you mean, it’s not a bag? But yes, it is reversible again…. July 30, 2013. I finally branched out again, away from reversible bags, and towards a reversible notebook cover! I followed a pattern online from Lara Cameron – here’s the link. 8211; highly recommend it, really easy to follow for any size of notebook, and includes idiot-proof pictures diagrams 🙂. And another reversible bag…. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. A life sew simple.

Sunday, February 15, 2009. Not much to say. I just have to say that I saw the funniest movie recently. I have not laughed so hard in so long, and it was totally what I needed. We went to the good ole' dollar movies and saw "Yes Man", with Jim Carrey. It would be somewhat like his movie "liar, liar" because it seemed like somewhat of the same concept. It wasn't though! She says it's to get exercise while taking pictures LOL. She admits that yes, there's. So, I throw out a challenge to y'all who are photogs.

Thursday, November 19, 2009. The media is such an interesting tool because we love it so much, especially our generation, yet when our computer crashes, this hatred out of nowhere suddenly appears. What do you think will be the next HUGE "thing" for technology. Facebook has already established its legendary mark on so...
