Home On Our Range. Homesteading, homeschooing and everything in between! Raw cream…is sooo good! June 3, 2015. July 14, 2015. We got another jar of raw cow’s milk from those amazing Guernsey’s and I was so excited to see it in the fridge the next day with a layer of cream on top. I removed it using a turkey baster by siphoning the cream off the top and transferred it into a clean mason jar. I want to make butter…the kids want to make ice cream. Of course they do…. After I had finished simmering it for two days I strained it and put the broth in the fridge to cool. The next morning I had a nice thick layer of fat. I removed it carefully with a ladle and set it aside. I pressure canned the broth in my canner…did I mention in my past posts how much I love this thing! Anyway, back to the fat…. When Did This Become a Farm? Homesteading, Homeschooling, and Homemaking in the PNW. July 31, 2016. Lots of Meat Processed and in Two Weeks I’ll Have to Do it Again. I have been so busy this week. On Sunday we butchered 5 rabbits, two of which were 8 pounders and the rest were not that much smaller. On Tuesday we cut them up portioned out enough for 2 dinners, then deboned the rest and ground it. I also made rabbit jerky with the abdominal flaps and the result of that was to fill a quart size baggy.

Her life was just starting. I wish I could stop thinking about it. They are so far away from most of the family. I don't know why I thought Nora wouldn't like it, or that she would be scared. She has this obsession with animals (love? Fineline) that seems to overcome any natural fear/respect of them.aka crazy. But, as usual, I was wrongwrongwrong. Nora definitely grabbed the reins after about 30 seconds. And naturally, as soon as she was done, she was off to find the cat to. It's all good now.
